It doesn't say that bekele has talked about doing the double. It only says he could because of the way it is scheduled
So he doesn't want to do the 5000m, 10000m and marathon triple a la Zatopek?
Wow, that's impressive. You do know that Dean ran 50 'thons in 50 days? That's much more impressive.

what were Dean's times for the 50 marathons? did he ever do a sub 2:30 in one of them? just curious...
correction to the author of that article:
Kenenisa Bekele is the Kenenisa Bekele of the distance world
Bekele has been more dominant in his events than Bolt has been in his.
It don't matter; he did 50 of them. That's next to impossible!
good quote:
"Yet Bekele's amazingly powerful boxer thighs, allied to more efficient, smoother technique, allow him to drive on relentlessly on all surfaces."
better quote:
"He's definitely competing with Haile, there's no doubt, yet he is too proud to ask Haile for any help on the business side"
best quote:
"there is still a touch of the assassin about him, which Hermens first saw in the teenage kid who came over to Holland for a road race and gave a slit throat gesture to his Kenyan opponents before speeding away to victory."
Well the point of the article is that Kenenisa has been just as good or better (the author directly says he's been dominating for much longer than Bolt) but he doesn't get nearly as much attention. I think the author fully understands Bekele's greatness.
I'd love to see him do the marathon. That way, we'd know his full potential. Who knows, the guy might do a 1:59:59 in Chicago or Berlin.
That would be something.
Bekele will do his marathon debut in London. Let's be realistic.
TWO WORDS:

Sy Mah of Toledo, Ohio, who ran 524 before he died in 1988
John Bozung, a runner based in the Utah area, claims to have the current "unofficial" record for having run 258 marathons in 170 consecutive months as of November 2007.
As of June 30, 2007, Horst Preisler of Germany had successfully completed 1214 marathons plus 347 ultramarathons, a total of 1561 events at marathon distance or longer.
On December 14, 2008, 64-year old Larry Macon set a record by running 105 marathons in a single calendar year
Richard Worley completed a marathon on 150+ weekends.
It would make sense. The WC showed that the 5000K is the one race he is beatable when he is facing the faster middle distance guys. And lets just say that I don't see him getting any faster on his famous last 400M kick come 2012.
Doing a triple of course would be amazing and get him a ton of attention if that is what he is looking for. But thats extremely unrealistic. In fact, the 5000M race has been known to be run during the marathon. That would be an incredible feat if he could double like that.
But whatever the case, I don't think he needs to decide for a year or two.
The marathon will be a walk in the park for him. He will just stay on the shoulder of the front runners and kick as soon as they reach the track. He could win the Olympic marathon up to age 45. He will aim to win it an unprecedented three times. Then he will be the greatest ever.

He'll avoid the Olympics like Geb
