He didn't compete in an Olympics.
What exactly constitutes an Olympian?

The USOC said they were Olympians in '80. So did Carter, as a pittance for his actions.

How can you be an Olympian if you don't compete at the Olympics?
Just say you qualified, or were selected, to compete in the Olympics and you developed an injury which forced you to withdraw.....does that make you an Olympian?
If you don't even make it to the Olympic village, does that make you an Olympian?
Hell, most countries that boycotted didn't even select or name a team....only the country that caused the boycott did that.
What makes you an Olympian? The selection, or the participation in the Olympics?
How say u?
You asked me a question, and I answered it. Notice that no one else seems even to be interested in the question. Good evening.
He should have been in the 10k in '72, but bombed at the Trials.
I apologise if it appeared I was attacking you....I was merely extrapolating on my original point.
Even you have indicated that Carter, USOC & USA T&F were hypocritical (sp) for even recognizing an Olympic team in 1980 when no (US) Olympic team even existed.
Also, the only reason the Olympic "trials" took place in 1980 was because it was historically such a cash cow for USA T&F.
Is this an accurate statement?

Yes, but he stuck around, toiled through some tough years and should have been rewarded as an Olympian in 1980.
Carter had the nerve to equate those athletes to wheat growers. Hell, I'm sure he paid those wheat growers farm subsidies.
Open question - why would Kenya boycott the 1980 Olympics, especially after boycotting 1976?
How much payola did the US taxpayer pay out to countries boycotting Moscow?
that whole boycotting crap starting with '76 all the way thru '84 was horrible.
