That's cool.
Although they should have just put a syringe on the cover.
What race is this from?

September 27, 2004, the 50th anniversary issue, had a track athlete in the bottom right hand corner. Or a painting of one anyway.
Well, if their singlets say Africa and Americas, it's gotta be the World Cup
At least Bolt isn't doped like LA.

If they do that for a T&F athlete they'd have to make it the cover every week of the year.
1977 inaugural World Cup?
I hope the SI cover jinx comes true for Dolt.
A better question is when is the last time a non-American track runner was on the cover of SI.
I'm thinking Seb Coe way back in 1980.
Bolt has just about become a household name, first time that has happened in track since Carl Lewis. I was in a bar Sunday and the young girl bartending was mentioning him when I asked to put the meet on. Later on I heard an A.M. radio talk show host mentioning him.
He's more famous then any track athlete since King Carl.
Last SI cover featuring a runner was October 4, 2000. Marion Jones on the cover when her then husband, T.J. Hunter was popped for drugs at the Sydney Olympics. A long, sad span of nine years between covers during which track sank into the depths of irrelevance in the general sporting public's eye. Question is, can Bolt be more than a single blip on the radar, or can the sport mount a competitive comeback?
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
