It would be a gutsy move.
But flotrack has all their videos up, so why should this policy be one sided?
I say post them, and then negotiate behind the scenes now that the WC are over.

The IAAF is in the position of promoting a great old sport that has become far less popular over the years since sports like the English Premier League (Soccer), NBA, NFL, etc. have gone crazy in all kinds of ways to stimulate revenue streams. If you can make a sport hugely popular, the revenue will definitely happen.
First, they need to fill the seats in the stadium to create excitement, so charging any more than about 5 or 10 bucks is not fill the seats in meets other than Zurich or Brussels. Seeing empty seats in the stadium when Bekele ran the 10km and even Bolt ran the 100 in 9.58 should be VERY shocking to the IAAF.
Second, yes they need embrace the new media model of online videos, blogs, etc., and the way they reported on the Berlin World Championships is an improvement, but they haven't really captured the power of online media at all. For example, they tried to push the athlete biographies a bit more, (on the IAAF website) but when you see an athlete's bio with a gray outline where the photo should be, there is no motivation to click on it. Each and every athlete in the world championship should be REQUIRED to have a biography with a little video about themselves.
I could go on and on and on about ways that the IAAF could promote their (our) sport more effectively but I'd be here all day.
I have to go for a run now.
