So word on the street is that Adams State wanted to race the 2009 Dellinger Cross Country meet but were repeatedly denied entry by Oregon. What is the reasoning for this?
Would it not be a good thing for the sport to see a head to head between the D1 and D2 champs? Nobody is questioning Oregon's pedigree, but the performances of Adams State's guys in track would lead one to believe that this would be a great early season showdown and a good spectacle for those interested in the sport.
Looks from the outside that Oregon are scared to race the D2 champs which is a cop-out to anybody who loves head to head clashes and true team races. Could they not swallow their pride and pioneer fairness instead of being so image-conscious and just race the best that's there? Opinions?
BTW this is not intended to be a D1 vs. D2 thread. although there are obvious differences in depth between the two national championships, I think most people can agree that having Adams State in the Dellinger race would make it a better and more exciting event.
