Not if you plan on paying retail pricing. Check eBay for closeouts, check outlet malls, or get a part time spot (few hours a week) at a running store. It won't do much to supplement your income, but it's easy work, you're surrounded by running, and employees usually get good discounts.
only if it is an older model on sale. They will work fine but it may be hard to get them. The pegasus is the closest to that price at around $80-85 for the newest version.
Absolutely! You could get a good shoe for 50 bucks. Don't believe the hype, spending 120 on a pair of shoes you might be buying an injury.
Search around and find what works for you.
So when i look online and find some adidas trail (kanadian) shoe for about 50 bucks... are these not good shoes? are these bulkier than normal running shoes?
is there a pretty generic neutral shoe that is a solid value that you can recommend?
I have run in mizunos for years now, but i they haven not been healthy years, so i am considering switching brands, thinking that maybe a change will do me good.
thanks.
If you time it right and wait for good offers, you can generally pick up 2-3 pairs of Pegasus at a time for around $60/pair from Road Runner Sports. You need to hit it when the older model is discounted but before they start selling out of sizes. Google for coupon codes and use the best one.
Right now there is a 10% off plus free shipping code and the Pegasus +25 is priced at $60, so you can get as many as you want shipped for $54/pair.
Plus, use the FLOTRAKD code on the team discount page to get another 15% off (Asics and Mizuno excluded).
If you get the excellent Pegasus, it's $50.90. The Wave Rider (no discount) is $54.88. Plus free 2 day shipping. You do have to pay tax if you live in CA though.
cheap cheap cheap -
thank you... that is a great link. appreciate it.
I recently got a pair of 2009 Nike Zoom Start+ for $52 from the Nike Store b&m location. They shipped for free from another location with an in-store xfer. I consider them an upgrade from the Pegasus, seemingly more neutral and lighter weight.
I just got a pair of Brooks Ghost from Sierra Trading Post for $55.00 -- they were a closeout.
I'm thinking about buying another pair.
Adizero Ace on RunningWarehouse.
Awesome.
And yes I train in them everyday.
for 70 thats easy... the real question is getting them for sub 50 anything more is a rip off!
Find your favorite shoe, then search for it on Ebay. There are plenty of sellers with 99+% ratings who sell top of the line shoes--if that's what you're looking for--for a fraction of the retail price (which os a rip-off.) I'm bought 5 pairs of Nike Vomero II's in the last 1.5 years via Ebay, and never paid more than $75 for a $125 shoe.
Walking into a running shop and paying MSRP is for suckers.
Most of the shoe companies actually make more basic models which you can find in larger generic "Sports" stores rather than specialty running stores.
In Canada there is a line of sports stores that give you a good choice of simple shoes for between 40-80 dollars.
These are shoes with a one piece midsole and no fancy multi colored uppers.
Adidas is probably the best brand for good durable cheap shoes.
I think the "Attune" and "Attest" were two good examples.
You can find the Asics Speedstar II and III both for under $70. They are good neutral shoes.

Tony you cheap bastard.
There is a 30% off coupon pretty frequently for footlocker and such...you just have to watch dealcatcher and other coupon sites...30% off $100 Nike Lunars is pretty good.
