Shutup, Fakers fan. Kobe will never win another championship again. He's too busy jumping over cars. I knew he was going to miss the last shot in the Miami Heat game. The Fakers won't even be the Celtic's main competition. The ECF will be the real NBA finals this year.
lakers are a joke, so is kobe. celtics will win that game by at least 15....and who else is gunna beat them? the under .500 sixers or the terrible warriors. I myself will take the c's over the sixers easy as well as a nice boston beatdown of california

You were saying, Brian? LoL! If there is any justice in the world, you bet your entire Christmas bonus on the Celtics to win that game. For your sake, I hope that you know a HELL of a lot more about running than you do about basketball!!
Nice to see the spirit of Christmas on letsrun.

Of course, I feel just terrible about it, too! ;-) I'm sorry, but if you are going to act like a condescending, know-it-all a**hole like "Brian Boston," you better be prepared to eat a serious serving of humble pie when you're wrong.
Besides, judging by your screen name it's a safe bet that you aren't exactly an unbiased source, either.
It's still early Lamar. At my age, starting with the Jerry West/ Elgin Baylor rivalry, today's game is pretty insignificant. We didn't really learn anything we didn't know. I do hope for another NBA finals between our two teams. Then the smack talk will make sense. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of the season.

Why So Serious!!??
hahaha!!! what a heartbreaker for ya buddy Go Lakers!!!(fakers)
That's debatable. We are more than one-third of the way through the season, and it's fairly obvious that the contenders have already separated themselves from the pretenders.
LoL! Sorry, but you can't use that trump card either. Apparently I go back at least as far as you do, since I used to attend the Lakers' home games at the Forum back in the 60s and watch West & Baylor in action. That being said, from where I stand this game carried a great deal of significance, and it appears that the majority of the NBA press corps seems to agree. However, based upon the final score I wouldn't expect a bitter Celtics fan to think so.
You are absolutely right! We confirmed that if the Lakers had been healthy (including Andrew Bynum) during the 2008 NBA Finals, it probably would have been a different story.
Your rhetoric is really pathetic. Now that the Celtics are leaving L.A. without their precious streak intact (which was nowhere near the Lakers record of 33 straight), you declare that "today's game is pretty insignificant" and that the smack talk doesn't make sense. LoL! Let me guess, you would have said the same thing if the Celtics had won, right? Garbage! If you even attempt to utter those words, you're simply lying to yourself.
Now, enjoy watching your Celtics pad their record against their "Leastern Conference" opponents. We will see you in June.
That was a good game. The Lakers played really well and the Celtics didn't have it tonight. Can't win them all. Those turnovers at the end were pretty bad. The playoffs should be very exciting.
Anyway, stop saying that if Bynum were healthy, the Lakers would've won last year. Bynum was healthy during last year's regular season and was a nonfactor against the Celtics. Besides, the teams rosters are different this year. Posey and PJ are gone and Cassell hasn't been playing. Ray Allen's ankles were injured last year but no one made excuses for him.
Also, if you follow basketball at all you would know that the East is arguably the better conference this year. The top title contenders are LA, Boston and Cleveland. Orlando is currently the fourth best team in the league and after that there's no clear fifth best (perhaps San Antonio after today's win but you can also argue Atlanta/Denver). So that's 3 teams out of the top 4 that are from the Eastern Conference. New Orleans is a top western team and you saw the beat down that Orlando gave them.
Past 5 NBA Champions:
2008: East
2007: West
2006: East
2005: West
2004: East
The Lakers played a good game and the Celtics didn't. Big Deal. The Lakers got crushed by the Celtics at home last year and everyone was still predicting the Lakers to win the Championship. Bynum makes them better, but Rondo and Perkins have improved too. If it comes to down to a Lakers and C's final again, I think it will go seven. I don't think last night was a statement game by any means.
i have to agree with dark knight. the west doesn't have three teams playing as well as the top three in the east have played up to this point. the west might have more depth, but the east has at least as good of a chance of winning the title this season.
WOW! The Lakers win a regular season HOME game against the Celtics and their fans are declaring them NBA champs. When the Lakers come to Boston and lose does that mean they have any less of a chance of winning a championship? Regular season is about getting as many wins as you can to get a good playoff seed. And of course every Celtic fan is disappointed they lost. The Celts still have the best record in the NBA and have destroyed some good teams.
I love how you changed from a belligerent Celtics fan into a good sport after the game. It's amazing how much an "L" can be the catalyst for evolution!
That was my entire point when I said "Leastern Conference." I was emphasizing that the Celtics will be able to pad their record against weaker competition. Yes, the Celtics, Cavs, and Magic are playing great basketball. However, the depth of talent in their conference (which becomes reflected in strength-of-schedule by the end of the season) still favors the west. In fact, Sagarin's latest objective computer rankings show that 9 of the top 13 teams are in the west:
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/nba0809.htmAnother one, huh? Once again, in the valley of the blind the one-eyed man is king! LoL!
Read the entire thread, genius. If you had, you would already realize that the Celtics fans have forfeited the right to be offended by the Lakers trash-talking based upon the belligerent, condescending garbage that was posted by Dark Knight and Brian Boston at the beginning of this conversation. At least the first guy decided to man-up and show his face in the aftermath. Once again, Wejo's policy against mandatory screen names rescues another ignorant trash-talking fanboy like Brian Boston, who will probably never use that handle again!

What a coincidence! I was thinking the exact same thing.

I would definitely agree.
I don't see how I forfeit anything when I didn't post any of that garbage. I'm not offended, I just don't see why people are getting in such a fuss about a regular season game that really doesn't mean much. If the Celtics won I would be happy as hell. However, I wouldn't think they are now absolutely going on to win two championships in a row based on one game. Nor would I think that Bynum would have made a "big" difference in game 6 when the lakers laid down.

Same here.

I beg to differ.
