Count me in that group, as well as someone who has helped African-American refugees assimilate into this country, frequently with cash handouts that are never reported on my tax return (these people are desperate) and who has financially helped very sick children. That's not the point. Yes, I am both fortunate to and deserving of making a very good living. There was a time when my wife and I couldn't get financed for a small two-bedroom condo, just like the rest of you (actually, probably quite unike the rest of you).
The point I'm making is that the vast percentage of those on here act is if though the government spends money extremely efficiently (no waste whatsoever) and as if the tax code is not already extremely progressive (the top 10% of wage earners pay 70% of taxes). Then you have a tax code that is written to encourage charitable giving rather than directly confiscating assets. Either way, it's the goverment telling us that they can allocate our money much more efficiently than we ever could, which is laughable.
My comments say nothing about my character. I believe the best way to help people is to help them help themselves. That goes a lot farther than the charity that 95% of the posters on here would advocate. And yet, I guaran-fukk-antee that I give more in absolute and percentage terms, over and above my tax burden, than those same 95%, including Biden.
