Scotty Bauhs and the 10k

D3 as well! Though I did go see D2 nationals last year when this dude I'd never heard of upset Nicodemus Naimadu (who I had heard of again and again) in the 10k. Little did I know that within a year the guy would be in line for a possible Olympic slot. Hot times!

Why is this kid still running for Chico State? Why doesn't he go pro already. He is already sub 28 for 10k and may make the team in a few days. GO PRO, make some money, and pay the last 5k of your last year of school at Chico. In an Olympic year, he is a big name, his stock is the highest right now. Just a thought...what will winning the D2 XC title prove at this point???

They want to win a team title is what I hear. What will it prove? That he was the best XC runner in D2 for the year. Something he has yet to be ( not including this redshirt year)

I hope he isn't staying just for the team title. Don't get me wrong, Chico always does well, but they are by no means the favorites.

Chico doesn't have the horse power to take the title, as you stated. If Serano and Boivin still ran for the team, maybe, but its is a long shot to say the least.

I'm sure He'll still be able to go Pro when he's done.

I saw the 10k upset, it was AMAZIONG. when the race finished, EVERY ONE was on their feet yelling, when bauhsw won all on the acu guys just sat down, but everyone else was celebrating, hugging and high-fiveing one another(people that didn't even know each other were doing this!), definitely the best race I've ever witnessed.

One thing at a time - let him finish this week first - good luck Scott, kill it at the trials, a lot of people are rooting for you. and some of us will be there!

As far as going pro....I would like to think that Scott Bauhs might be a bit old school and have this old, cherished quality called loyalty!

Much like Ryan Hall, Scott Bauhs is exactly what American distance running needs.

Some people have different proirities! Maybe he wants a college diploma!! Maybe he likes the Chico state team and wants to be a part of a team for a year longer. Maybe he does not need the money right now and/or realizes money is not the only necessity in his life right now.

True, going Pro is a incredible experience and a great opportunity. He will probably take advantage of it, but probably not until after graduation.

Chico has always had a bunch of quality runners who also were good guys. Always fun to get out there and battle out the distance races with them. How many years of eligibility did Boivin have with them - 7, 8? Best of luck Scotty from all of us who got smoked by Chico at one time or another.

just because he goes pro doesn't mean he has to drop out of school and not get his degree. do what makes you happy. if you want to run with your team and go for a team title, go for it. if you want to do your thing and go pro, do it. it's your life, do what makes you happy.

I ran 4 straight cross years...shouldn't seem like I was around too long...I guess maybe because I did well at nationals starting my redshirt freshmen year people noticed more... I've been done for awhile now... I decided to let Scotty put my accomplishments to shame...
