I recently got a job that has me sitting for 8-9 hours and suddenly I developed piriformis syndrome. Everything I read and my doctor agree's that this is hands down an overuse injury caused my running. My gut tells me no. I had it for two weeks now and taking off from running hasn't done squat. I'm fine till I spend a few hours in the chair and it's back to square one. So today I proped my keyboard up on books and only sat down for 10 minutes here and there. For the first time in weeks the pain subsided. Also I ran and during the run the pain was gone completely.
Is sitting known to cause this? If so how do you get better when your job requires you to sit all day? My chrio pretty much told me it's something I will have to "deal" with. He is quick to tell me I can't run but isn't a bit concerned with the fact I have to sit for 8-9 hours which clearly is what causes the pain. Everything I read tells me sitting agravates the condition but is it known to cause it? So long as I have to sit it sure isn't getting any better.
