I have gone sub 4 in the mile and I got put in heat 2 for the Cardinal invite?? I have also beaten Acosta before and my PR is .2 off of his mile PR (and I have a faster 1500 PR). What's going on here??

I would have won the Nobel Prize if it weren't for this Einstein guy...
Acosta has connections who talked up his potential and/or recent training...
It's who you know, not what you've ran. (Unfortunately...)
This is lame wrote:

You ever finish 3rd in a NCAA Championship?
Don't worry, there will be someone to push you in the second heat.
People lie about their entry times.
How do you know they lied? Did they list their entry times? I didn't see them listed anywhere. I thought this meet was really strict and they would be looking out for the liars.
No, look at the races.
You've got 14:20,14:30 kids, one 14:40 kid and a guy whose never run one in the 5k.
In the 1500 you've got a couple 350ish guys with the slowest I could find a 3:53 guy.
Yet I know of a couple semi high profile runners with PR's way faster who didn't get in.
You get screwed over if you don't lie. It's a joke.
Sorry, sort of new to the college heating assignments. My kid was never fast enough until now for me to notice such a thing. It's sad people have to lie to get into a meet. If the people hosting the meet would enforce the time standards, it would cut down on a lot of this lying. I do feel sorry for anyone not getting into the meet because they were truthful or, a slower heat because they were truthful.
Moen is in heat 2 of the mens 10k and I don't believe that he has ever broken 29 minutes. He had to of lied just to get in the meet, let alone heat 2.
Gaspar and Bethke have the 3rd and 6th fastest collegiate 3000SC times this year; there are 5 collegians in the first heat and one or two other guys slower. Both those guys need people running 8:40 to up their marks. Have my doubts on Bethke looking like he did through most of indoors, however (although last week's 8:48 might have been without resting much in preparation for this week).
well you've narrowed yourself down to 3 guys. look kid, if Jon Riley doesn't get pref treatment at his alma mater, what makes you think you're going to? also, the fact of the matter is, basically all of the guys in the first heat are running better than you RIGHT NOW or they're foreigners which also is a draw point for the fans. with Riley, O'Brien, Jager, Matuzak, etc., you'll be just fine in that second heat. as a matter of fact, you might even run faster out of that heat as you won't be in over your head so badly. good luck kid and be sure to come back and post under your real name so we know how well you ran after the fact, thanks.
I've got an idea. Win the second heat and prove what a big mistake they made. As not a stanford alum says, its not a bad heat and next time it won't happen. The only solution for disrespect is to run faster.
they have a guy who ran 3:45 this season in the 4th heat. What the heck is that all about.
I've gone sub 4 and am in the 3rd heat. Just be glad you got into heat 2.
Someone has a better chance of getting into the Adidas Track Classic 1500, then getting into Stanford’s 1st heat of the 1500 this weekend.
Unless you run for" Oregon'.
Yes Stanford has a history of fast milers. BUT, they have 3 guys in the 3rd section. Um, they have PR's of 3:49 wtf. Guys in the 4th heat would smoke them. Every year Stanford puts guys in races that takes away spots from others who deserve to be there.
Mark my words " A Stanford guy will get LAST PLACE the sections 2 and 3”.
Just look at section 2 last month from the Stanford Invite 1500.

why not just put them in slower races.
Men's steeple seeding is a joke. Lobos is making a career out of being in fast sections, and has run 9:01 and 8:55
at Stanford and Mt.Sac., well behind some section 2 guys.
Greaux ran 8:59 at Mt.Sac., DiGennaro ran 8:55 at Stanford,
etc., and several guys haven't raced one since 2007 or even 2006. And guys running 8:43 already this year are in the slow section. At least 1/3 of the Section 1 guys don't belong there.
i'd put you in heat 3 for whining
