It's interesting now to look back on some of the NorCal girls of that era. My son's team ran at a relatively small invitational in Santa Rosa this year (Viking Invitational). I was looking through the fastest girls times on the course.
Some of girls at the top of the list are high school legends. But I noticed that the girl at number 13 has had a pretty decent pro career. Number 21 did ok as well. It just goes to show how difficult it is to predict which girls will go on to successful running careers post-high school.
