One hard hour on bike? Should I record it as miles in my log? How many?

6 miles
none - log your training in time instead.
I just log '1 hr-bike'. Its crosstraining. I don't care about logging tham as 'miles'. Its not like I'm getting a bonus for mileage levels from my sponsor.
0 miles running
it's cross training, it ain't runnin
25 miles steady and hard on the stationary bike (Level 15 at 90+ RPM) is about like 15K - 10 miles running. You really have to be a decent cyclist to crank it that fast though. Most people cruise on a bike and that is where you get 3-4 miles bike to one mile of running. But if you really light it up, that conversion is fairly accurate.
Fu*k it
consider the definition of the word "stationary". Perhaps this has some bearing on the number of miles traveled?
You are suggesting that, because your 1 hour bike ride was an equivalent effort to a steady run, it should be logged as running mileage.
Is this not analogous to saying: "I ran 12 X 400 averaging 65s, but it was windy and I was wearing flats. The effort was equivalent to running 62s, so that's what I'll write in my log" ?
The purpose of a running log is not to write down the largest possible numbers in the weekly miles column. Rather its purpose is to record what you did so you gain insight into what you might keep or do differently the next in future training cycles. Thus you should record something like "One hard hour on stationary bike". A record of heartrate or perceived effort might be helpful as well.
If you think of the workout in terms of equivalent calories burned, this link is pretty good.
I ride a bicycle on my treamill. Once I rode fast enough that I almost took off.

That is sketchy mate, that would be a sight to see.
An hour on the bike is a whole lot better than nothin'.

must have had some good aero bars on the bike
I bet A LOT of guys count their recovery jogs. I mean i bet the majority. You're supposed to count it. You're in motion and working out.
In fact, I count every step I take during the day as mileage. I am currently aproaching the big 40.
really!?!?! wrote:
