Is it worth it to get your TESOL? I want to teach abroad, and know I can do so in Japan without one, but many other places require it. Would it be worth getting so I could travel and find work while abroad?

Are you talking about a TESOL Masters or certificate? If you are talking about a certificate, yes it is worth it. The Masters degree is only worth it if you plan to make a career out of teaching overseas.
Thanks, I was going to pursue the certificate. I appreciate the advice!
If you get experience teaching overseas, you'll be more a much more attractive candidate at an American school than someone with a certificate and no international experience. Absolutely. There are few places that require both, while there are lots of places that require international experience.
Don't waste time/money getting a certificate if you don't need to. I had experience abroad with no certificate and I worked at a very good English language school on the east coast after returning to the states.
