The American road 5K record for age 14 is 15:35 by Andy Biladeau. Jordan McDougal has the age 15 record at 15:19.
Yung Seung Leal ran about that during the summer of his sophomore year.
thanks, i was thinking, "there's no way"
What ever happened to that guy?
Yong Sung Leal was 16 years 7 months when he ran 14:27 for 5000m the summer after his soph year. Still races occasionally, I believe.
He left high level competitive running to pursue his religion deeper after he graduated high school.
Yong Sung Leal is a member of the Unification Church (the Moonies, follower of Rev. Sun Myung Moon).
Here's an article abount Leal and his wife:

ok that article is just weird.
I want to get "matched". Doesn't that mean hook up with a chick? Does it mean marry? I don't want to marry, just hook up and learn a few things...
Rupp ran 14:27 at the end of his soph year. It was on the track though, not roads at Jr. Nationals.
To avoid confusion, that last sentence should probably be "It was on the track though, at Jr. Nationals, not on the roads."
Rupp ran 14:34 at the 2002 Junior Nats as a soph. He was 16 years 1 month at the time.
Rexing went 12:45, I think, at age 14, but it was so outrageous that they didn't submit it for ratification because it would have discouraged the entire world. Also, the track was all burned up when he finished, so they couldn't really be sure it was an accurate 400 meters.
Not sure but I thought Craig Virgin had all the age group records(US) between the ages of 13 and 19 at one time to include the 5k but mostly the two mile?
maybe I remember things wrong

You know kids who've run faster than 15:19, or you know kids who SAY they've run faster than 15:19?

No there haven't. And i believe the records Josh and Jordon have are road race records...Kevin schwab, I believe, has the record from 9-13 years old, though i may be wrong. Road Records.
