Really, why?
I see this time and time again on threads that he'll never ever run sub 13, and I scratch my head wondering why. If at all possible without slamming anyone, etc., I'd really like to hear some good reasons why you people think he can't do it.
Some points to ponder:
1) Ritz has already run pretty much the equivalent of a 4:00 mile, and he did that a few years ago now and could almost assuredly run sub 4:00 now. Kennedy's mile PR is just 3:56, so it's proven you don't need to be a 3:50 guy to run sub 13.
2) People keep saying Ritz has no wheels, and yet he outkicked Ryan Hall (who supposedly has wheels) when it mattered, and he even fared well against Webb in that 10,000 -- it's not like Webb KILLED him at the end, and Webb has an awesome kick.
3) Kennedy was 25 when he ran 13:14 for his then PR (just two seconds faster than Ritz, and Ritz is still just 23).
Is it just because it is perceived that BK didn't run as much as Ritz? Is it because Ritz has been injured a lot the last couple years (which to me makes the times he has run even all the more amazing). I really really don't understand this "NEVER GOING TO DO IT" thing. He's definitely on par with what Kennedy did to this stage in his career, and he has arguably had some better races to this stage also (meaning it could be perceived that way but perhaps also the other way -- it certainly isn't a blow out for BK).
If you're on the NEVER going to do it, I'd love to hear why. Some of you even say never under 13:10. Some of you SAID never under 13:20.
Seems weird that one of America's brightest hopes isn't given any chance by some of you (not that it matters to Ritz I'm sure).
