It's is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't see the difference here.
One thing for sure. I'll always be smarter than you guys. This is the best you can come up with! Don't worry about being smart enough to debate any points. Not much smarts about some of you guys.
I'VE BEEN OUTED!!!!! AAAAAAAARGH!!! OUT OF THE CLOSET!! LOL
I've always wanted to be a wanker. Where do I start Jim?
This is pretty funny.
Anyone got any issues to debate-or do we continue to lower ourselves. Gives one a good idea of the loony american mind and how it works!!! Can one tell me what differnce it all makes, whether it a sprinter, jumper walker etc..... what makes one event better than the other, other than a little popularity? Bet I get smart unintelligent comments!

Ummmm . . . How about a LOT of popularity.
By the way, isn't "smart unintelligent comments" a classic example of an oxymoron?
.....and thats about the only difference! Knew once I was "outed" the intelligence level of some on here would make the thread go way off topic.
Jim L:
Didn't I warn you about a 100 posts ago that you were wasting your time? You will never, ever get through to these people. I should have also warned you not to let any personal information about yourself out. This thread, like most, seems like a philosophy class's attempt to illustrate every fallacy in reasoning known to man. The favorite, as always, is suggesting that a person's line of reasoning should be disregarded due to some aspect of their personal life. You're done now. If you want to post in future, I suggest posting anonymously under a different name. I rarely post under "TomM" any more because a few people utterly despise me despite the fact my points are always reasonably well-constructed. Most of the comebacks involve either the fact that I admittedly take antidepressants and am therefore unreliable, or that, because I own dogs and openly admit to being fond of them, I must suck their dicks and therefore be unreliable.
Hope you enjoyed your own experience on LetsRun.com

P.S. When you read these messages in Australia, do they appear upside-down?
LOL! I can't complain, I was well warned!
I just stand on my head to read the messages!
Thanks
Cheers

Currently my best senior athlete ranks no.4 in the country, no. 6 in the Commonwealth (US don't compete there). Closing on Olympic quali but too late for our country now anyway. Broke his arm before our trials so that put him out. Way it goes, just have to move on and work towards worlds next year. Had numerous junior champs and medallists over time but over focusing more on senior athletes now. Doesn't feel so restricting in regards to training.
Your best is number 4 in Austailia? Big f***in deal. WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TO DISS AMERICAN ATHLETES? Maybe if your athletes actually trained you might produce? There are dozens here who have walked the walk, you just talk the talk. You're full of it.
going back to page 3, gerry lindgren had no talent. 2:30 660 in eigth grade.
9:21 is 4th on the all time York 3200 list? I'm surprised it isn't like 15th. I didn't run too far off that and I sure didn't run 100 mile weeks. More like 60 maximum.
it seemed that York never got too many standout talents -- just a lot of kids who were willing to work harder than everyone else.

From what I have seen when you are still growing the max mileage in hs should stay <90 for the most part with an average of no more than about 80 in the base phase. The reasoning is based on what I have heard from some kenyans I know and also from examples in our country such as Jim Ryun and Gerry Lindgren. They accomplished a lot in the sport in their earlier years late teens-early 20's but they could have done better with a slightly more gradual approach.
Done better? Ryun and Lindgren were two of the best runners of their day and you presume to know how to improve their training. Maybe, just maybe, these two guys got it right. We'd have a lot more good runners if guys trained like these two.
Jim L, what's Fonzie like?
I noticed one person stating that he ran very few miles and instead developed in other areas playing other sports such as tennis and soccer. Depending on your position a soccer player runs 7-11 miles per game. For tennis it's 5 miles per match. Yeah these kids don't "run" but they practice their sport five times a week and sometimes much more plus all there games/matches. So who actually "runs" more? Then these kids go to track practice and put in about 35 miles a week and say they are running great on low miles.
My neighbors tell me that my kids run a lot because they run everyday for thirty-forty minutes. They think I must make them run, that I'm a slave master. When in fact they do it because they love it! Personally, I don't think this is a lot I argue that their kids actually run much more than do my kids. Their kids are out all day from sun up to sun down running around the neighboorhood while my kids tend to the home work or just hang out.

i think 100mpw in high school is insane! i'm 16 and have run 15:13 for 5000m,which is alright, nothing too special compared to some of the hs kids in usa. but i've never even run 100km in a week let alone 100 miles. (100km = 60 miles in case you cant figure it out). and before i ran 15:13 my biggest ever week had been about 80km (50 miles). i think the key isnt how much mileage you do, its about the quality. running 100mpw means shit all if they are all long/easy runs. to run fast times you have to do quality sessions not just go for huge long runs or do easy runs twice a day all the time.
Aussie, you need to understand that you indeed are an exceptionally talented age 16 runner. But, other runners wishing to be at your speed are required to run larger volumes so that they actually CAN do the quality sessions you speak of.
