She is trying to say she ran the whole marathon!! It does look funny 25 years later and before the internet to see how easy it was to do something like this.
What the hell is this doing on the Game Show Network? I'm not kidding when I say this is a great show about the marathon and everything that happened after it. Got to love that Bill Rodgers and Larry Rawson as well....
She claims to have run 65-70mpw for training and ran a 2:31 marathon...for a woman? What is the feasability of this, especially being a woman and only her 2nd race in her life?
My dad ran the Boston Marathon many times and averaged 110-140 mpw and put up a 2:33 time. I just dont by her story that she runs high school mileage and runs world class times.
You gotta lover her quote tho, "What is an interval?"
Unfortunately, this pig continues to get the notoriety for pulling off one of the great cheat attempts of all time at the expense of the very tough and magnanimous Jacquie Gareau. She was a true champion.
One more question....what was so hard about saying, "Hey Rosie, can you run a 10k, half marathon, marathong or anything in the following year to prove you can run worth a damn?"
Shes such a joke, and I agree Jacqueline seems like a true class act in the interview.
i can't f'ing believe they did a 2 hour show on this piece of sh't. it didn't suprise me either when they later said she spent time in goal of embellzement and drugs. bill rodgers last win at boston gets overshadowed by this biatch. 2 hours of my life i'll never get back again. would have been a good 1/2 hour or hour show.
no!!!!! stop!!!!!!!!!!! it's 11pm and they are replaying the show again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!it just finished and they started it right up...4 hours of rosie ruiz...i'm going to slit my wrists!!!

She is still claiming she won, now in 2006?

Yes she is!!
Did anyone else notice the pink sport coat that Bill R. was wearing when they were interviewing him and Rosie (the day) after the race?
She has probably really actually convinced herself in her 'mind' that she won. That's what narcissistic, self-absorbed (not to mention borderline psychotic) people do.
I gotta say, after seeing all the evidence and her side of the story it really looks like she ran the whole thing. Kind of amazing the organizers were so quick to dq her.
If true, and I'm not saying it is as I did not see the TV special, do you think she will be be able to re-claim the prize money? I also would think she could be successful in a lawsuit.
Um, that was before the days of prize money.
What a total lying whore.
What show did you watch? None of the spotters saw her. None of the cameras saw her. Witnesses at Boston and NYC saw her jump into the race. Never ran another race?
Neither Boston nor NYC were very quick to disqualify her. The infamous Martin Franklin was quickly dq'd a few years ago at NYC. Rosie had way more time to enjoy her alleged victory. Sick person. But fantastic story.
I'll assume the couple of people here who suggest Ruiz was legitimate are comedians. She ran less than two miles in Boston. What she is is a thief; she stole from Jacqueline Gareau. There's nothing at all amusing about this.
I was there working for a shoe company. We knew all along who leading (male and female) and Rosie wasn't one of them. She jumped in the last two miles.
It appeared that the Officials at the finish line did not get the reports from along the course. They immediatley directed her to the awards stand as soon as she crossed the finish line. This is stll done today with the top finishers (male, female, and wheelchair). It was basically a lack of commuication.
It's a shame that anyone would still give this theif any additional exposure.
Yeah, couple that with all of her other world class road race performances and she'll definitely win her case in court. Oh that's right, there are no other performances. Except her cheating at the NYC in order to get a Boston Q time. Ruiz is a bitch. A beligerent, pathological liar to say the least...
