You know what, besides the potential ridicule on letsrun, that really isn't a bad idea. A) It's actually pretty funny and if nothing else, he and his friends are probably getting a chuckle out of it. B) People have put high bids on stranger s*** in the past, might as well give it a try, why the hell not?

I am glad that you all think that my attempt to make some money is so amusing. If you all think that I am so pathetic I would like you all to come out for a run with me sometime. You might be faster than me, you might not, I run because it is what I love to do, so I hope that you all had some fun at my half serious attempt to market myself to the world.
P.S. I am serious about running with you guys, anytime anywhere. Unless this is a website populated by former champions and the four or five hundred people in the area that know for sure they can beat me I doubt that you could all earn the right to call me pathetic.
There are a LOT more than "four or five hundred people" in the area who can break 18 for 5K without needing to jump off a cliff to do it, so that is a rather conservative estimate. I know because I'm one of them and I suck! Trying to dilute the market for running sponsorship doesn't help the sport a bit.

it's a good thing he changed it to a set price auction for you guys. if i were him i would've taken the penny or the quarter, however high it got because in so doing you would have been agreeing to also pay his entry into every race he entered. if he races 20 times a year, which i'm sure he races nearly every weekend that's probably $400 throw in a couple marathons and you're looking at over $500. if i were him i'd take that s***, that would be awesome.

I say, nothing ventured, nothing gained. If someone is dumb enough to fork over $1k, then who am I to tell them not to? After all, isn't E-Bay the place where people sell ham sandwiches and slices of pizza that contain the likenesses of Jesus or Elvis?
