It's the first time since 1978 that both American record holders will both be in Boston.

Mantz said his first Boston appearance in 2023 dented his confidence and affected his racing in 2024, but he is ready to put that behind him on Monday. Plus two-time champ Evans Chebet is feeling healthy and ready to reclaim his title.

Chebet is trying to become the first man to win three straight since 2008, but his coach has revealed to LetsRun.com that he's been plagued by an Achilles issue during his buildup.

A record 11 sub-2:20 women are scheduled to race on Patriots Day in Boston on April 15, the most for any marathon in history, surpassing the 10 that started in London last year. And Hellen Obiri (2:21:38 pb) will be the favorite. Emma Bates heads the US entries.

Kipchoge said the issue began to bother him around 30K, which is exactly when he was dropped from the lead pack.

The GOAT took it out hard (14:17 at 5k, 62:19 at half) but fizzled late and finished 6th in 2:09:23. Where does he go from here?

Bates led much of the race and ran a huge 2:22:10 pb to finish as top American and back up her big pre-race talk.

There will be five sub-2:18 women and 16 sub-2:21 women on the start line in Hopkinton -- both all-time records for a women's marathon.

Chebet, who used to never win (0 wins in his 1st 10 marathons with six 2nd place finishes), has been winning everything of late including in 2022 when he became the 5th man to win Boston & NYC in the same year, says those wins changed his life but he's excited about facing Eliud Kipchoge.

Kipchoge will have his hands full with the last two Boston champs, Benson Kipruto and Evans Chebet.

The GOAT in the marathon - Eliud Kipchoge - is the first current men's marathon world record holder to run Boston since 1954. How will he do in his first hilly marathon? If you consider yourself a sports fan, you owe it to yourself to see him in person if you live nearby.

A super Boston field just got even more super. Tanzania's Gabriel Geay (2:03:00) and Brazil's Daniel Do Nascimento (2:04:51) also join a field that already included Eliud Kipchoge, Evans Chebet, and Benson Kipruto.

The 2022 Boston marathon will feature a RECORD 5 sub-2:18 women and 16 sub-2:21 women on its start line.

For the 1st time in his life, Kipchoge will run a hilly marathon in April. It will be his first US marathon in 3,109 days, since 2014 Chicago.
