stato-o-matic?
I just looked at the value of some of my old cards/editions... holy cow... I need to ping my parents to see if they still have those suckers.

Just realized there was no OR sighting this week that I can remember. Hope he's healing ok. OR if you're reading, hope all is well. It's weird to have a week go by with no comments.
Now, I know the rest of you were on the edge of your seat.. wondering... did Lanc do a hill workout last night?! Nope. I did not. I went and did a 10k tempo at the track. Old habits die hard... OR gets it.

So if this kid arrive on Sunday it will be born on 5/10/20. Trying to think of a good name to commemorate it. Perhaps "Dubelle"
Kenenisa Worm! If a boy.
Tirunesh Worm! If a girl.
So this happened today. 3:24:07. Her official PR from 2019 CIM is 3:28:24, so over four minutes faster than that. Super windy conditions (steady 15mph winds with 30mph gusts) on a mildly undulating looped course totaling 26.3 miles.
She’s shocked she did it. I am more shocked I made it the whole way, haha. I actually felt physically awful about 8.5 miles in but worked my way out of it, ditched some clothes to cool off, got some calories in me, dumped a cup of water on my head at about 15 miles and at that point I knew adrenaline would carry the day, especially as I saw how well she was doing.
Not a single mile at 8:00 or over, by a hair. She had to fight miles 22-26, but then kicked hard with a tailwind the last .3 miles. Unofficial splits almost perfect: 1:42:00 / 1:42:07. Couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.
That’s incredible! Congrats to your wife! Seems like a pretty much perfectly run race. Was this planned or somewhat last minute?
Thanks, Worm. I hope your family’s big event goes just as smoothly. That would be quite a Mother’s Day gift to Mrs. Worm if that happens.
After Mrs. Stone’s HM TT two weeks ago, we planned this as a possibility for this weekend. She did 15 miles including 10 miles at goal pace last weekend, so we figured now was our best chance before the temps start climbing. You’ll see when I post her week tomorrow that we had her follow a mini taper this week.
As for me...well...trained or not I am always all-in. I did as well as I could have hoped given my lack of current fitness.
We actually ended up getting great cool weather (34F to 42F), just an awful lot of wind to go with it. But all things being equal, that’s about as great a result as you could hope for given the TT circumstances.
@Mrs. Stone - LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOO
The ROCK says it best. And it sounds like miss stone just brought it.
GREAT JOB Mrs. Stone!! That is tremendous work. By the time she runs CIM again she's gonna shatter that time!
Looks like it was a good call. I am increasingly convinced that these goal races months in the future might be counter productive. Sometimes it is nice to just be flexible in your training and timing and try to plan races around when your fitness seems to just kind of click. Maybe I’m a bit naive but that has been my experience recently at least.
As for us, baby was born last night. 8 lb 9.4 oz. We named him Simon. I watched it over FaceTime. What a strange world we live in. My wife arrived at the hospital at 6:52 and the baby was delivered at 7:07 so very close call. Everyone is healthy and happy and I can’t wait for the little man to get home tomorrow.

Congratulations to your growing family!
Congratulations to the Worm family! So happy to hear everyone is healthy and happy. Yes, it is a strange world we live in right now, but at least one now blessed by the arrival of your son. That will surely make the homecoming that much sweeter.
Today I went to the track for a 5k time trial. I didnt feel great that before TT I decided based on how I feel I may run the 5k time trial at 10k pace. Went out in 5:11 and then ran 5:26, 5:23, 37, which is 16:37. Ran the 5k at my current 10k Pr pace from a year ago. The track today had some hard wet mowed grass and some geese I had to go around. Not good conditions to run on. I think it’s equivalent to sub 16:30 on normal conditions.
Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AMAZING!!!!
very happy for you!
Congrats worm. Enjoy the baby stage. It’s the best.
Huge congrats to both HHW and Mrs. Stone on two very different but very cool things!
Mrs. Stone - enjoy the recovery.
HHW - this is just the beginning..... :p
Worm! Congrats!!!!!!!! Enjoy! Wow close call! That must have been a whirlwind. Simon is an awesome name ?
Mrs Stone - epic! I hope you can continue enjoy that feat for the next many days! What a great accomplishment in the midst of these unique times.
Congrats dude! That's so exciting! But seeing Simon for the first time over FaceTime must have been rough. Hopefully once you're all home things are a bit more normal, haha
And congrats Mrs. Stone! I can't TT a 5k properly. To TT a marathon? Absolutely incredible
