Excellent question
Who said there is a shortage of tests. There is no shortage of tests.

Well the media has been screaming about a shortage of tests 24/7 for a couple of weeks now.

Surely this is newsworthy, because it reiterates that Covid can jump from species to species.
As well as socially isolating from humans if infected, presumably we should be avoiding all animals also.
Two dogs and one cat tested positive in Hong Kong. One of the dogs later died. Of course, the virus came from bats too. There was likely an intermediate species between bats and humans, speculated to be pangolins or snakes, but not known.
Sounds scary. I do not know the implications for viruses of this. Does this mean it will spread more from animals and mutate more, as well?

Yes.

Hahahahaha
I like tigers, they are awesomer than people, rarefied and majestic. It's more important to save a tiger than a person, there's too many people in the world.
Anyone know how you actually take a test of a tiger? I can't imagine he's happy to give a nasal swab?
It's a different test than what humans get:

From Dr. Paul Calle, Bronx Zoo chief veterinarian; "The COVID-19 testing that was performed on our Malayan tiger Nadia was performed in a veterinary school laboratory and is not the same test as is used for people.
You cannot send human samples to the veterinary laboratory, and you cannot send animal tests to the human laboratories, so there is no competition for testing between these very different situations."
"
Surely they would need to run tests on hundreds of tigers to be sure the test is reliable?
Spain apparently rushed out a test that was wrong for a while. If there is any rate at all of false positives, and you test a bunch of animals, you will get a new headline.
