The order that I read from one of the counties (I forget which one) sounded pretty authoritative and prohibited any travel by bike or car or on foot for any other purpose than going to the grocery store or other essential function and working. No outside exercising. I will try to find the order
San Fran is on total lockdown - Is Running allowed? Has anyone tried to go for a run outdoors in San Francisco?

This article includes a link to the actual legal order from Santa Clara County.
"All travel, including, but not limited to, travel on foot, bicycle, scooter motorcycle, automobile, or public transit, except Essential Travel and Essential Activities as defined below in Section 10, is prohibitid"
There you have it. Running is banned in at least Santa Clara, unless you're running to an essential activity. -
Great story, bro. Here's mine: I ran about 8 miles at Rancho San Antonio over lunch. Not nearly as crowded as usual but plenty of people there.
Timely Pro Trail Running Tip: When you come up to those 5 people walking abreast and blocking the entire trail just unleash a barrage of coughing and sneezing and, like Moses parting the Red Sea, they'll quickly make a hole for you. -
This is the level most countries in Europe and parts of Canada are at right now, while France and Spain will arrest you for running outside. This isn't something to joke about anymore, and these measures will be taken by other countries if the hospitals continue to be so overrun.

Lots of people out for walks and runs in Richmond Park, London today. Our PM actually told people to get out in the fresh air each day when he announced the lockdown.
The new rules have to reduce propagation below 1.0 new infectees per person carrying it. They do not have to guarantee zero transmission. At some point we get 90% of the benefits for 10% of the cost. If people stay six feet apart, outdoors, they add less risk than when they go and line up in the supermarket for toilet paper. -

Oh you think I'm joking? I'm not. #BoomerRemover -

Seems about right. France and Spain have always leaned authoritarian and draconian. -

You can also go to county park or open space. -

West coast vegans are probably too emaciated to think straight enough, and will struggle to follow these rules, unfortunately. -
I live in San Fran and the city is dead. But you can easily use this to your advantage. Just hop on tinder. Plenty of bored lonely girls looking to get some late night exercise. I quarantined and chilled last night. Lining up something for tonight. Happy swiping

I'm out in contra costa and there is still a fair amount of traffic. I've seen quite a few people out walking their dogs and pushing strollers. It doesn't feel that different and there are cars parked at trailheads. -
Can't decide if you're a Russian troll, a right-wing troll, just really dumb, or some combo of these. Anyway, if you have the reading skills to follow your own quoted language to Section 10 of the Order, it says:
"10. For purposes of this Order, individuals may leave their residence only to perform any of the following 'Essential Activities'...
iii. To engage in outdoor activity, provided the individuals comply with Social Distancing Requirements as defined in this Section, such as, by way of example and without limitation, walking, hiking, or running."

Sanjay Gupta and another newscaster on CNN right now viewing real-time video of walkers and runners on waterfront in SF. MANY people out, most not at all observing the 6 ft thing. Gupta is castigating them for being so selfish. Good for him.
Fools in the US are going to have to experience death, panic and lockdown by threat of force before "MY NEEDS" get put aside for the common good.
Idiots. How many will die before Americans start to get it? -

And despite all of this, you're still going to die one day of something anyway...
It might be brain cancer, ,leukemia etc. You could have a massive heart attack or enlarged heart condition.
Ultimately, no one knows our true odds of dying any day now. Each day you wake up you're taking a gamble...with each breath you take, there is a chance it may be your last...the point is there's no point in worrying and stressing about something you can't control.
You could be out at your bank when some lunatic decides to hold it up and then execute employees and customers one by one. -
One thing is for sure...the stores have toilet paper since most people in SF just poop on the sidewalks without wiping.

Go away. Read the summary of fatalities then tell me why healthy working age citizens should be concerned. Shutting normal society down for a spike in fatalities among people over 70 is absolutely ridiculous.

Hopefully a helluva a lot. -
I live in Oakland, across the bay from SF, and am also subject to the "shelter in place" order. The order specifically allows you to go running outside. I did eight miles this morning in Oakland and Berkeley, primarily along College Avenue and University Avenue. No one cared that I was running and there were plenty of others doing likewise.
Most of the non-food oriented shops on College and University were closed. My guess is that about 75% of the restaurants are closed and 25% open for take out or delivery only. My numbers may be way off since I was running earlier than most restaurants would normally be open.
The AC Transit buses which passed me were mostly empty and there way fewer cars on the street than normal.
The UC Berkeley campus was very quiet.
Life continues.
