"5 Investigates" is the name of the news team. You and a lot of other people are reading the "September, 5..." and thinking it's a date. It's not.

nah...she would have run New York in the fall too. The September-November turnaround isn't any easier than a February-April so she may lose an appearance fee either way, to say nothing of what sponsorship bonuses might have been available to her for making an Olympic team.

Interesting that 2021 qualifying was shaping up to be harder than 2020. FindMyMarathon has a counter where they compare 2020 qualifying with 2021 qualifying. For 2021 there are already about 3,500 more qualifiers this year compared to the same time last year. This is true.

Columbus Day would be a good date but not certain if schools are closed in Massachusetts on this day.

not cerrtain if the marathon could transport the runners to Hopkinton without the school buses.

Possibly the Sunday before Columbus Day would be okay.

not certain why competing with Chicago would be a problem especially since it is for one year only.

Given all the other events that have been cancelled in the past two days, I’m a little mad at Boston for not yet announcing they’ve cancelled the marathon. It’s as if they think they’re more important than the NCAA tournament, the NBA, and MLB. (They are, however, more important than the NHL. No one cares about hockey.)

Why does it matter whether they announce it 33 days in advance versus 35? Big deal.

I hope they find a way to transfer our current bookings to the fall race date. The hotel I booked does not have any rooms available the weekend of Sept 12/13. I wonder if Marathon Tours scooped them all up today, because they had rooms available this morning when I checked.

Well, we can be pretty darned sure baa will hold something and consider it a continuation of their annual streak. If a relay counts, they'd probably count a 5k called the baa marathon 5k.

They could probably save plenty on appearance fees with primarily USA elite fields, even if they lose some in terms of international media interest.

They will loose IAAF Platinum Label status without 8 elites ranked top-150 worldwide. Not so many non-african persons in tip-150, and most will ask appearance fees higher than nobody-knows-of-one-more-kenian-guy.

Oh no...the world hobby jogging (I got my 4:30 BQ time at CIM bro!) olympics is cancelled. Boo hoo bro.
