That's total nonsense.

Omg I just now discovered a corona type virus variant that's infecting the bottom of the ocean!
Run for the hills everyone!

Bevause they think trump will get blamed for any issues...
The narrative is that people are either totally in denial or they are hysterical.
I went to Costco and bought a few big bags of trail mix, some medicine, a solar battery charger and a few other items. I consider the purchase rational, cheap, and proactive.
Let me know if you consider this hysterical. When you think of the sh”t people do for Black Friday, I guess in response to the threat of over-paying for consumer goods, the Covid stuff seems quite sensible.

I have posted previously that I feel the media, in many instances, has over hyped this virus which is causing panic in some. I don't currently think the virus is a Spanish flu type disaster, but has the potential to be bad. I am taking precautions such as washing my hands frequently; avoiding crowded areas as much as possible; and be cognizant not to touch my face. In my opinion, with some, this bad vs not so virus has evolved into a Right vs Left issue (which is insane).
The only reason it may not be a Spanish flu type of disaster is BECAUSE of the media. The media attention has forced large the virus’s worst potential outcomes into our collective consciousness and that will be our saving grace.
We’ve been canceling events, schools, etc, without these things, Spanish flu.

What’s nonsense?
Through the doom and gloom I can't help but laugh that the CDC is recommending all of the remaining presidential candidates stay at home as much as possible and avoid crowds.

The Spanish flu was caused by terrible air pollution, not a virus.
All the current hysteria is making the situation worse, not better, and more people are dying because of it.
It seems like a flu-like virus that has 1) possibly higher severe illness rates (requiring hospitalization) than normal seasonal flu strains and 2) faces basically zero immunity at all (c.f. with flu vaccines + previous exposure immunity).
This has the potential to overwhelm hospital systems with lots of severe respiratory illness, even if the absolute fatality rate and severe illness rate isn't that high

What hysteria has called “more people” to die?
Caused*
i have friends from all over the world, china, thailand, germany, south america, etc.
not one has personal experience with a single case within their circle.
zero.
however, i'm led to believe that some areas of china were hit, they say its clearing up ..
the problem is with the internet, tv, and you people. mainstream lamestream if just fake, or 10 buck an hour writers feeding actors lines to read, or AP printouts. here you have jass haters that feel their goal in life is to waste people's time, then you have the college people educated in quackademia who feel they can talk about any subject with certainty, while never having any experience what so ever.
you make up sheit, you guess, you theorize, with a puny brain.
and when someone has some accurate news, and is smart, your bsbsbs bullcrud diatribe
gets in the way.
i spent 8 years off the grid in the middle of no where, and the locals did not talk about things that they didn't know about. they did not have your disease, to go bla bla bla, = nothing
but then again people are people, and in the west, you learn verbal dairrea.
of course you need to go off the grid to see your disease,
your disease is not the corona virus, you are screwed up in the head.
^This!
Thanks for the info. Finally some sensible facts to all this hysteria and paranoia.
Basically the only media coverage I’ve seen of it are facts - China going into lockdown, markets dropping, schools closing, events canceling. The media didn’t do this, they reported it happening. I haven’t even seen hysterics or people buying out bottled water, etc. The only hysterics I’ve seen are people getting mad that the virus exists and throwing a fit anytime someone mentions it. Heaven forbid everybody washes their hands and at least for a while be cautious about large gatherings in enclosed spaces. Oh the humanity, mainstream media conspiracy hands-washers do it again.

Or it won’t be the Spanish Flu because 75% of adult men aren’t returning home from years of living in rat and feces covered trench’s in the French countryside. Dope.
There once was a man from Nantucket
Who got on a cruise ship to Phuket

That's totally false and there is zero evidence to back up such a ridiculous claim.

No, it does not. The hospital caused deaths to date have all been due to other causes, plus the usual incompetence.
It's not an issue until it affects those around you. Then it's total devastation.
Wake up. 33 STILL in serious condition from Diamond Princess. With the best health care you can get. One more died this morning. Better update the stats from that "calming" slate article.
