With your line of thinking, we don't need elementary schools or high school either.
A college degree is a basic requirement in many lines of work. Not having one severely limits one's options.
As long as the country is run by elites from the Ivy Leagues, we should provide the means to attend the Ivy Leagues for anyone who can get in. Otherwise, we are locked in a self-perpetuating cycle.
