Where does Cheptegei train in Uganda? South?
He trains in Kapchorwa.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BuoTZ0UnwnP/?hl=plRace can still happen outside of the dedicated diamond part, but yes, it's a shame that the 5 000 got removed since it is a king event, much more interesting than a 3 000 which favour much more the 1500m runners.
However it change nothing for the 10 000m as it never was part of the diamond league. Trakc meeting still have MUCH more coverage than road race outside of marathon.
TV rights, sponsorship and all must be minimal for a 10k road race versus an international track meeting.

The real question is why doesn't Kamworor break it. Sure, he's focused on the half/full marathon now, but he has enough speed and if he leads from the front I think he can easily take down the record.
Kamworor does NOT have enough speed for 12:37. There's no way he can even run sub 3:55 for the mile and Bekele was closer to 3:50 in his prime.
"Easily take down" which record? 26:17? You're living in a fantasy land. Kamworor might be able to run within 8 seconds of the 10k record on a good day.
You can only speculate since neither have raced the mile seriously.
Kamworor's speed certainly isn't his strong point, but he's closed a 10k in 54 and he's run a 13:01 5k in the middle of a half. He's a multiple time world champion in XC and the half. He's considerably faster now than his old track records indicate. He'd only have to run 14 seconds faster than his WR half pace to take the 10k record, and he solo'd that WR. Why would you think someone of his caliber doesn't have the ability if they actually applied themselves?

Just seen this. In Kapchorwa, Eastern Uganda, on the foothills of Mt Elgon. He built a track at Teryet, 2,450m above sea level.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
