Is this one of the deeper US Olympic trials fields in awhile?

No way 150mpw doesn't get some serious respect in Atlanta. Walmsley will surprise and be in top 8, maybe top 5.
If 150 mpw was advantageous, everyone would run that amount. Over distance at a moderate pace, is easy, which is why there have been guys that have run 200 mpw. Everyone runs the amount they believe is the point of diminishing returns. You can't out train your natural ability.
1. Rupp (finds a way)
2. Korir (best performance last year)
3. Ward (has had less hiccups than Fauble)
4. Fauble (last of the "Big 4")
5. Abdi (has the experience)
6. McMilllan (solid NYC)
7. Smyth (came back from injury quickly, good on hills)
8. Walmsley (fanboys act like it's the best performance)
9. Albertson (great run at CIM)
10. Lagat (farewell tour)
BTC falters, Ritz falters, Chicago guys falter
Don't sleep on Kyle Masterson, 7544ft for lyf baby

This is a very solid top 10. Hasay is a big question mark. No Linden?
I'll go Sisson, Bates, Linden, Huddle, Hall
Nate Martin will be top 10. There will be a few "big names" who pack it in once they realize their dreams aren't becoming reality. Not for Nate though, the man has an indomitable will.
Two other comments...
1. Molly Seidel has top 10 potential
2. Assuming it is a tactical race (which it may not be at all), would the pack let one individual (ie: Hall or Linden) go and race for the 2nd and 3rd places? Those two are good candidates to just run their own race. Though the field is so deep they may not want to let anyone go. But I could see a Hall just running away from the field and hoping to hold on for a win.
Rupp, Korir, Leblanc, Walmsley

Many moons and a healthy achilles ago. Korir has a sub 60 half and a faster debut marathon (14 days after running the 10k in Dubai at World Champs) than Rupp
Pretty dumb to compare Rupp and Korir's debuts given the vastly different circumstances.

Jim Walmsley fans will be surprised, that just running 175 mile weeks won't cut it in Atlanta.
I predict Linden DNF
But it would be nice to see her in the top 5!
I'd rather not see Linden or Hasay make the team. Linden already selfishly took a spot when she was injured and she knew was not going to be able to finish and I just don't see Hasay being healthy twice in a row with such a short turnaround. The only one I feel is definitely on the team is Sisson. The women's side is deep it's impossible to predict who will make it. There's no use talking about the men as they have no shot at mixing it up with the top men anyway.
This is exactly why Walmsley is getting so much attention.
Say Rupp DNS or DNFs. We'll have total scrubs in the Olympic Marathon. At least with Walmsley we have something to talk about.
My only hope is that someone not Nike comes out with some proto shoe that's 10 percent better than anything else, and four of the qualifiers (men and women) are wearing it. Throw in a Hoka and a Skechers or something, and shut out Nike.
Korir
Rupp
new young guy
respect for Ward, Abdi and the older tactically savvy guys. I just think too many young guys ran fast this past year for one of them not to have a breakthrough.
Hasay
Linden
Huddle
Hall
Sisson
Hall looks great. Huddle beats her healthy any day.
Mens
1. Ward
2. Korir
3. Dark Horse
Womens
1. Sisson - super talented and she's smart and consistent
2. Huddle - tough and has the "get it done mentality"
3. Nell Rojas - because she's strong AF and tough and doesn't post about it on a daily basis and I would love to see her shut Stephanie Bruces "gritty" mouth up.
