Total BS. If you really believe a shoe from NIKE will be banned, you are mistaken. If their metric is a "carbon fiber plate", then even non-racing shoes will be banned. If Vaporflys are banned, then that means that spoon-shaped carbon plate shoes from New Balance, Saucony, Skechers, Li-Ning, Adidas, Hoka, Craft Sportswear, or any other shoe company will have to be banned too. Vaporfly set the standard for fast racing shoes, especially for the marathon distance. Nike is adapting all their shoe technologies to follow. So will EVERY OTHER SHOE COMPANY. Let the market decide, not the bureaucrats from the IAAF or a tabloid UK article.
Yes, times are faster. I am not arguing against the vaporfly and its superiority. But, every other company will have similar technology.
Soon, the vaporfly-like shoe will be the standard, just like EVA was for midsoles or lightweight shoes were.
The fact of the matter is that if the Vaporfly never had "4%" or "next%" sticked on the end of its name, it would just be another fast racing flat. Nike was smart. They knew the marketing hype would drive sales. Now idiot consumers run in them coming from like the Brooks Glycerin and claim to have superpowers. In reality, they could have just chose like a New Balance 1400 or Saucony Fastwitch and run much faster as well.
Nike is the leader in running, and we are all just sheep.
