High school track mile PR was 5:02 back in the day. I plan to race a mile track race as I think I can go faster.

I’m now 43.
My main takeaway from this thread is that a lot of y'all are liars
4:38, 1969, HS cinder track, Onitsuka Tiger flats, 68 yrs old now
4:08.32
1989
- 4:34 on a red crushed-brick track in blue, Onitsuka Tiger spikes.
- 1975: Senior year of H.S. Did not compete in college, enjoyed running much more just doing it on my own, still do.
- Now 62. Would be lucky to break 6:30 nowadays, but still do 12-mile long runs, and enjoy fast hill repeats. Doing both will keep you strong!

4:38 1973 Junior year HS , 5:05 at 54 YO in 2009 now the hip arthritis has made 10 min miles the norm ! My bike gets more work now . Maybe 20 miles of slow running a week now .

How do I still have the fastest mile time among registered users on this thread?
Obviously a lot people aren't responding or don't come to Letsrun anymore.
At least malmo can post his 4:00.5 PR.
I haven't seen Jim Spivey post in a while but it would be nice to see a 3:49 response.
Spivey is on Statmans list.
4:46 at age 22. I actually may have a chance at breaking it this summer (now age 30). Always felt like I was in 4:3x shape at one point but never had the right race at the right time.
4:17 in late 2008

Current age 83
Up to this point...
Average: 4:46
Median: 4:35
Median likely a much better number to use than the average. a 7-10 minute mile hurts way more than a 4:00 mile helps.

Yawn. Hero.

now? who knows. Ran a 5:56 in fall while training for a half marathon.
4:31, 1977 on a track.
We have a somewhat famous downhill mile race in Blacksburg, Virginia that people claim as their mile PR. These people are liars.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
