This is the non-work website I spend the most time on. I'd hate to stop browsing it as frequently just because the display gives me a headache.
It's a bit fiddly but you can change the colours yourself using a local CSS file. I did that to make visited links on LRC be bright red rather than the default dull purple which I couldn't tell apart from unvisited links. I assume you could change the white background to another colour in the same way. Let me know if you want to do that and I'll dig out how I did it.
