Screen shot would help. It scales 1280px wide, which is actually 80px wider than a site like the nytimes.com. I'm wondering if people are used to the full-width Kramer-size car lane width we used to use, even though almost no sites go 100% wide anymore.
Always appreciate the effort to update.
What's the check next to a username signify?
It seems like the quote post feature isn’t always working properly. I included quotes on two posts in the Harvard thread that didn’t quote correctly.

I like being able to go on mobile and pick up where I left off.
I just started replying to this post, stopped, and came back and it remembered what I had in there. I like that.
Reporting a post is easier. We could experiment with font sizes and colors. We're open to ideas.
Quoting worked ok up above.

I like the new, cleaner look - and welcome changes to the site to encourage responsible posting. On a 24" monitor at 1920x1080 resolution, and using latest IE, Edge, Chrome, and Firefox (with no browser history and default settings), the main forum thread list scales differently for each browser. For some browsers, there is too much white space and font is too small. On a Windows workstation, this is easily fixed by zooming the browser display (hold CTRL key and roll the mouse wheel up), but is still a nuisance.

It either isn't scaling appropriately with the browser window or there's way to much white space

Can I shoot you an email with a couple screen shots so you can see what I am talking about, if so, what is the address.
I just went on the NY Times site and they have approx 4" less white space.
too much white.
it feels like i'm watching an old tv show in 4:3

Yes.

I couldn't reply to a post using my registered account. Kept encountering an error which states username belongs to a registered user. Yes, but that user is me... and I'm logged in. Seems you now have to click the text which reads "Post as username" Confusing and an extra step for those who usually post using their registered username. Reading further through the thread, the white-space issue was already identified. While scaling is a somewhat variable between browsers, what Erik noted elsewhere in the thread is more or less what I am seeing. I have do innate ad-blocker settings enabled (am not using adblocker software) for some browsers. For browsers which don't have ab-blocking turned on, the white space on the side is filled with ads. For browsers with ad-blocking settings enabled, the same space to the side is empty/white, and I can zoom the display so that white space was used for message display, instead.

I like it -- cleaner and seems more responsive as well. Still has the no-frills feel. Appreciate it! I'll say that I'm glad that people can't post multiple times on the same thread with different user names.
Is the post preview new as well? That's a good feature, too.

It only shows "post as username" if you've clicked "post as someone else" before that. It does remember your setting, however. I'll think of if there's an easy way to remind people what's going on here.

Post preview isn't new, but it matching the styling of the site is.

I really dislike the extra web space on the left. I know you're doing this to emulate other sites but I can't stand this on other sites either. I really like the website's color scheme and all the extra white really bothers my eyes.
You should also add the ability to expand the page index within threads for easy searching. I like how it defaults to only showing a few pages at a time, but with the new changes it would be really annoying to search through old pages on some of the super long threads.
Looks great on a phone!

Yeah it work if it was a darker background. I also think the style just doesn't look good. NY Times and WSJ do have white margins without full screen scaling but the graphics and text float on the background well. The main message board just sticks out like a sore thumb, like if you glued a piece of color paper to white poster board.
The actually thread pages are better because each post is separated from one another and has a better floating style, but the amount of empty space in the margins is sort of egregious. At least make it like dark blue or something idk

Big fan of this. Good compromise to the anonymity vs registration debate.
Not really a critical bug but I noticed the thread hyperlink color doesn't change if you click on the page number from the main message board. For instance if I click on "4" for this thread, then go back to the main message board, the link for "Official Discussion thread..." is still blue instead of purple or whatever
