I mean yes and no. It isn't worth arguing over, and yet if the larger scheme of things if it helps set a consensus and it affects actual awards further down the road then it is. At that point they needed to have some data point or concrete basis to make their judgment. And 1b implies a lower ranking. I mean Tuohy went undefeated and pulled off an historic feat. Dudek had a fine season but in the run up to FL she was not being touted as a big favorite. She had lost at FL regional, barely beat Hart at NXN regional, and was not viewed as being as big a threat as Starliper. It was not as if Dudek was having some record breaking season or was matching Tuohy all year SR for SR. She had a very nice FL race, but how can anyone compare different races in completely different conditions, especially when several competitors pulled double duty at NXN and FL? I mean Hart was 50th at NXN. And my issues with the speed rating at FL aside, she beat Starliper by one second after Starliper lost by 17 seconds at NXN. If she blew the field away like Cuffe did then OK, but she didn't.
Just seemed like they went out of their way to find a reason to demote Tuohy.
Then again it generated interest.
