I predict Wilky boy dethrones the Stevenson punk who beat him at XC NCAA's in the 5k. Currently has 3 seconds on him. Good work Carls

Excited to see what Kozlowski and Wachter do in Mankato this weekend. I think Wachter throws down a 4:15 mile and shows he can contend for the conference title.
I don't think Wachter has ever won a conference title in an individual event...he has been 2nd or 3rd at conference meet 7 times in MIAC career. Mile (2nd and 3rd), 1000 (2nd), 1500 (2nd and 3rd), 3k (2nd), XC (3rd).
Flat to banked conversion, Wilkinson would be top 30 in D1
Wachter with a 4:12 season debut, sheesh!
Thank Papa! If this is accurate, wow. This blows open the conference mile and makes the conference 3k tighter too.
Also the 1k got much more exciting with Gustafson and Wilkinson breaking 2:30 last night.
This is the best the MIAC has been in track in years.
lonerGainz with a 4:09 down in nebraska. lol.
Some fantastic performances this past weekend in the great MIAC...
5. MAC's Palmer beat Joey CG in the 600 with conference-leading 1:21 times.
4. UST Freshman Alert...Gifford ran 1:56 in the 800 and Haire ran 8:47 in the 3k. Both conference contenders, especially Gifford in the 800.
3. Gustafson beat Wilkinson in the 1k and both ran 2:29. Confirms Frank is in great shape.
2. Wachter ran a PR of 4:12 to sit at #3 in D3 and throw his hat in the ring to win a stacked conference mile.
1. Jesse Middendorf dropped a 1:53.9 to sit #7 in D3 and has to become the 800 favorite at conference.

Damn I'm excited for the rest of the season
1-3/4 Probably locked up in the Mile, and then we already have 8 guys at around 4:24-4:26. That's gonna be a fun event.
Agreed. Odds are that Wilk runs 5k/3k and maybe DMR, but no mile.
That leaves Wachter, Lonergan, and Gustafson as the easy top 3 and real open besides that...
5k - Haire nipping at the heels of Kadrofske, should be fun to see how that plays out at MIAC champs. UST takes the 5k IMO against Olaf.
1k - Freshman Gifford continues to perform in Mid-D, .5 sec behind Wachter! Solid pack of Toms but still have to account for the little competition in the race
Mile - Nothing super exciting. Cassidy STO #1 at a 4:28 and Ebent UST #1 at 4:32.
3k - Decent performances from the STO group, must have been the secondary event for the 3k UST guys (what happened with Karrick? and where is Biel Wiel?)
Overall - Solid times from both squads coming into the conference meet. With the depth of UST in their sprints and field events, they lead a mean group of athletes.
Wilkinson 4:08.55 mile today at Carleton’s home meet. Currently leads the nation. Impressive.
Where’s Kozlowski been? Is he hurt? Sick? Just relaxing not focusing on track? He’s gone 2:39 in the 1k but his 800 has only been 2:00 this season so nowhere near times he’s been capable of
Rumor has it that Koslowski has the coronavirus
Palmer beating JCG in back-to-back weeks makes the 800 pretty open. Middendorf ran an underwhelming 2:35 1k on Saturday.
MIAC currently has 4 of top 10 in the mile for D3...very cool. Lonergan didn't run this week.
3k already has 24 runners under 9 minutes...another deep event this year that will be tight at conference.
Mueller hasn't run in last 2 weekends. Injured?
Kadrofske and Haire running 15:10/15:14 was solid. Kadrofske was 4th in 2019 and should crack podium this year.
Just a week until conference heats come out!
Crazy fact: Wachter, Lonergan, and Gustafson have ONE combined individual MIAC title in their careers (Lonergan outdoor 15 in '19)
On the flip side, Mueller has 8 MIAC indoor/outdoor track wins the past 2 years (not including 2 in the DMR). When was the last time someone was so dominant in the MIAC for a 2-year stretch?
Are you sure you want to provide an opportunity to shift this thread back to the glory years of some Norwegian School from Northfield? ;)
Lol no way any Ole has had 10+ conference track titles during a 2-year span.
Anyway, not a ton happened this weekend with conference just a week away. Notable performances:
JCG had a 1 sec indoor PR in the 8. Should be a good battle between him and Middendorf on Friday.
Lonergan soloing a 2:28. If he wasn't already the 1k favorite, he should be now.
Couple strong mile performances. Fern ran 4:17 and frosh Mitch Grand ran 4:20.
Heat sheets are out soon- will be interesting to see what some athletes enter and how the DMR shakes out. My final predictions will be posted Thursday or Friday...
This thread has gone to complete sh*t. The real JCG that we should be talking about is none other than Carleton’s JOHN C GROOS (king john). King John just had his 1k DEBUT, and this thread is still talking about Middendorf this, Mitchell Grand that. A GOAT is in the making right under your nose @MiacManiac and not a single mention. Sad! LONG LIVE THE KING
Adding to the strong list of competitors at this weekend's conference championships we have none other than St. Olaf's curly-haired heartthrob phenom frosh, from the land down under (Alaska), Arne Ellefson-Carnes.
Inside sources inform me that he was injured for the first part of the season, but he is back in strong form, recently running 8:55 for the 3k. Some thing his recent rise to glory is because of his strong training, others think he was blessed by the late Phil Lundin (RIP), yet others think it is from his vigorous completion of PT. Yet my inside sources confirm, Arne has ALASKAN VOODOO ON HIS SIDE!! At the 2019 NCAA DIII Cross Country Championship Banquet, Arne was spotted completing voodoo activities directed at the Carls.
MIAC competitors watch out! In addition to being shockingly cute, Arne has some dark polar bear magic on his side.
See y'all Friday
