In age group hockey in Canada a player born December 15th was moved up to a higher age group while a player born January 2nd was kept in the younger age category. The point is subtle but true by MG. The kid in the younger age group miraculously appears talented and is shuttled off to the competitive team program where ice time and competitive opportunities may be as much as 10X that of the house league kids. The pattern is seen in age group track too. May be a Canadian thing though - just like higher intelligence. (This may be MG posting)
