Mike Woods takes down yet another Canadian Junior record this time in the mile. Just a few weeks ago at a twilight meet in Ottawa he broke Greg Anderson's long time 3k record with a 7:58 clocking Now he's gone and bettered Mark Olesen's time of 3:58 with a time of 3:57.48.
The only question now is what record is next for this young mid-distance stud? Although doubtful that he will get a real fast pace at Pan Ams this weekend he still has a shot at breaking Kevin Sullivan's 1500 mark of 3:39.11 later in the summer. Can't wait to see him take a run at that one. Here's a mini-report with the enroute 1500 times a la Andy Hahn.

Andrew Maloney was the rabbit and quickly it was him and Goucher out in front. They came through half mile in 1:58.
Maloney did a great job at getting Goucher all the way to 1000m in 2:28. Woods came from well back and made the big charge on the last lap and came through the final corner right on Goucher's heels, but Goucher was very strong in the final 150m.
What a great race!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The crowd was going nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All 4000 of them.
One of the fastest miles ever run on Ontario soil, and Woods breaking a 24 yr old Cdn Jr Record.
