I had it pretty bad. I was mis-diagnozed for 2 years, and finally it got to the point of almost rupturing and I had emergency surgery to get it removed. I was out of commission for a month or so, but I could have done some light jogging a little earlier I\'m sure. Just don\'t come back too quick, take it easy on yourself for a while. You don\'t want a hernia forming where the incision was for the surgery, that would get you in a heap of trouble. Just take it easy for a while.
I had appendicitis and as soon as i had the staples removed from my stomach the doctor told me i was fine to go for a run
Yep. Had it in 2002. Thought it was a stomach ache, gas, or even an ulcer. Waited to the see the doctor till the next day in the afternoon. The doctor immediately suspected it was the appendix and ordered a variety of exams to confirm. All the tests came back positive and I went in for surgery that night. Stayed another day at the hospital. The doctor said the appendix was as big as his thumb and would have erupted had it not been removed in time. Left a two inch scar which has faded in time. No need to worry; you'll run again. I was able to after about 6 months later, but that's because I was not in that good of shape to begin with. Interesting fact. A. Webb had his appendix removed a couple of years ago which in part contributed to a short race season that year. He has obviously recovered big time. Good luck.
I just had an appendicitis earlier on this summer. Took about 2 weeks to feel pretty good, but when I tried to run, I could feel things moving inside and then it all swelled up. I'm pretty sure it was just the impact though. So I would say, biking or some other low impact cross training (aqua jogging perhaps) after about 2 weeks, 4 weeks before you can run and not feel as if something is wrong. It’s definitely not the end of the world.
