I have a friend who is selling a Henderson wet suit that was used for scuba diving.
Can this be used for triathlons?

Not if you want to swim fast. There is a big difference between a triathlon wetsuit and a diving or surfing wetsuit. Check out www.wetsuit.com for cheap real tri wetsuits.
buy a tri specific suit. The link above to promotion wetsuits is a good one. They make more than decent suits at a very reasonable price.
get an ORCA or Xterra. those things even make a land creature like me a decent Ironman swimmer in the water. I actually get a better fit with the Xterra.
the differences are in the thickness distribution optimized for swimming movement and buoyancy and surface friction to some degree.
to answer your question...YES. You can use it for a triathlon. Do you want to? HELL NO!!!
You might get away with just a Farmer John provided it isn't too thick. But scuba suits are not built for speed or mobility, they are built to keep you warm.
