Hi all,
Hobbyjogger loser here coming in with what might be a silly question but I figured I would seek your advice anyway. I am coming off Chicago currently (2:58:51 first sub-3!) and still pretty sore, so I am enjoying some days off of running and just kind of lounging around and occasionally walking my dogs. That being said, here in Atlanta we have a Half Marathon on Thanksgiving on a pretty fun and hilly course. That's really the next race I plan to do and I would love to try and take a crack at 1:22 or so, my most recent Half PR is 1:23:54 run on a similar hilly course in the city, but a little different. My question is, say I started a mini-training block next Tuesday 10/22 and followed it up until 11/28 (including a taper of sorts?), would there be any benefit? I know your body needs time to absorb the stresses of training but still fail to understand what that timeline is. October and November are boring months to me so I'd love to stay busy following a schedule since that keeps me entertained, but I figured I would see if there was any upside to it. If so, by all means please recommend some key workouts to do. I actually tried quite a few from here building up for Chicago and had a lot of fun trying brand new stuff, so I definitely welcome that.
Thanks!!
