Yes Mo was never the fastest runner but he is a smart racer and learned how to win races!
Yeah, he learned how to win as soon as all the top dogs left and he had a complete transformation at the age of 27 (nothing to see here lol). Mo was definitely a good racer on the track (trash at the marathon though), but that doesn't mean he's the GOAT. His accomplishments pale in comparison to those of Bekele, Gebrselassie, El Guerrouj, etc.
