Anybody able to take his place or are we done winning any distance medals at the Olympics?

Too early to know.
When Alberto falls
USATF cloaks the running world
In impenetrable darkness
A rumor rises
From the former athletes
And contaminates the air
Suddenly...
US running has new meaning
When Galen falls
Kara cloaks the NOP
In impenetrable darkness
A rumor rises from her mouth
And contaminates the air
When Nike falls
Disgruntled employees cloaks the world
In impenetrable darkness
A chill rises from their mouths
And contaminates the air
Suddenly US running has new meaning

FYI, a parody from this:
The term"witchhunt"(sic) usually implies someone innocent being persecuted and denigrated by opponents. Is that what you believe is going on here?
Seems to be what's going on. No athlete of his doped according to USADA but they convict him of doping violations? Seems odd at the least.
My guess Salazar beats this one eventually, and he will go all the way to beat it.
I agree with you
It will be most damaging to Dutch distance running.

Absolutely, it is a witch hunt, more based on emotion and hearsay than logic and objective facts.
In any other pro sport - teams which go the extra mile in pushing the training and preparation envelope are either admired or not talked about. But in running - the public in general demands a higher level or purity, which does not make sense if looked at in an objective way.
Salazar is the sacrificial lamb, and the way he was treated in Doha was an absolute disgrace - being barred from the venues and being treated like a pariah, although it appears that Coe, behind closed doors, is working out a deal with Salazar for the future, and it would be wise for Coe to do so, because the latter's ethics are far from lilley white.,
1. Salazar pushed his athletes to the limit, always mindful of the legal limits for supplements and training aids.
2. Salazar never doped any athlete. He merely took advantage of every training and technical and pharmaceutical advantage available to him, just as any scientist would - and Salazar - despite no training in science in his undergrad days (I think his major was business) developed and re-formatted himself into a kind of running guru boffin come scientist.
3. Nike is fully supporting Al Sal - do you think they would do so if they thought that Salazar had committed serious violations? Not happening.
4. Salazar will/ should be vindicated, because no one and nothing can implicate him in serious wrong doing worthy of this egregious 4 year suspension.
5. This has been a farcical situation which needs rectifying as soon as possible. Al Sal deserves better than this. Tragic for his family and tragic for his runners, past and present who are being dragged through this unjustly.
Couldn't have said it better. Fully agree.
I think the suspension is a disincentive to American coaches/athletes to push the limits and try new things. To paraphrase Kara Goucher, we are going to miss Alberto's gimmicks.
If Sifan and Yomif leave the NOP, then they might as well pack it in.

Talk about emotion... AAA made a sacrificial lamb? For whom? Why?
Coe "is working out a deal with Salazar"? Pre-determining the CAS ruling? Wow he is powerful. Not.
You Nike fans need to try harder.
Dutch middle distance running program was cut a couple of years ago. Some try to use this now to get it back on as a program in the national training center. For this, they will try to convince Sifan to come back to NL so she can feed the mouths of some extra staff.
It won’t make a bit if difference. Compared to every other sport, running is a joke. Even when compared to synchronized diving or whatever it was that NBC televised instead of Track and Field. Truth is 99% of the people watching the Ollies could care less about T&F or doping. They want to watch the strongest, fastest and prettiest in every sport.
If you ain’t doping you ain’t winning. Winning is money and that’s all that matters.
You all are missing a really important fact: He is a warlock.
If a great coach like Lydiard had committed doping violations I am sure we would view him rather differently - and the accomplishments of his athletes. I also doubt that we would be persuaded by the impartiality of his shoe manufacturer in coming to his defence. A brand above all protects itself.

They were "doping offences" yea but not the kind of doping offences people think about when they hear the word. He DID NOT GIVE ATHLETES DRUGS so this whole thing is a farce
Not really a "whichhunt" when the guy is a legit doper and doping his athletes??
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
