For those concerned with her fitness, the Milesplit Workout Wednesday Video is up. 4 x 1 mile with 90 seconds rest in between. Target was 5:40. Results were 5:35/5:32/5:32/5:25. The "hard" workout for that week was supposed to be on Friday.

Wow, she's a female God!!!! No one has ever done that before...oh wait?
Okay good posts, masciarelli and chmiel had some faster times than I realized
But still Tuohy had the seven or eight fastest speed ratings of the season. That's kind of pretty dominant.
When will Touhy throw down her first competition in xc this season? Others have debuted and been racing consistently for a few weeks now with some incredible times out of the gate.

already addressed, but just for you.....
https://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=9588514&page=7Maybe Manhattan? But who knows she might run more conservative. Just to win every race and really save her best for nxn.... I mean I'm sure times will be fairly fast but last year she ran her fastest times early and middle and slow down at the end. So maybe they'll try to have a steady progression where she gets stronger as the season goes
So what does this type of training times indicate for her conditioning? I'm sure she's looking a Run 5K at 5 minute mile pace for olympic trial goal, or just improvement over past. Anyone have any idea how training times usually compared to potential race times

last year she hurt her knee a little in mid season and wasn't quite the same the rest of the season.
The new list of top ratings:
158 - Sydney Masciarelli
157 - Zophia Dudek
157 - Brynn Brown
155 - Marlee Starliper
154 - Taylor Ewert
154 - Katelynne Hart
153 - Carly McNatt
151 - Sydney Thorvaldson
151 - Jenna Hutchins
Jenna Hutchins is at Desert Twilight tonight. With Lauren Ping (146) and Hana Hall pushing her she might move up the list. After her last race she said she felt like she had a lot left.
Ewert is also practically a world class race walker for her age.

Hutchins ran a 16:38, Ping a 16:49. I dunno, last I saw those were the 3rd and 5th best 5K girl's time so far this season. Yet their respective speed ratings came out to only 150 and 147.
those are some fast courses. a 150 is usually indicative around 17:30. Surface must be almost track fast.
Isn't Desert Twilight run on the same course as NXR SW? (I may be mistaken, but I think so.) Samantha Schadler's winning time last year @ NXR SW was 17:06. She's since graduated. Hana Hall is the top returner with a 17:14 last year. Since Ping just ran a 16:49 on the course (bear in mind Hutchins isn't in the SW region for NXR), does that make Ping an early favorite for NXR SW this season?
Yes, it is the same course. Desert Twilight is the official Nike pre-SW meet.
Ping was definitely the early favorite until Riley Stewart of Cherry Creek CO smoked the Griak field the very next day. Her 17:29 was one second off Emily Covert's course record and rated at 152. She won by 49 seconds. Neither of the Pings have ever broken 18:10 there.
Stewart is the number 2 returner to NXR/SW and is only a sophomore. She ran both NXN(37th) and FLN(21st) last year but looks like she has taken a big step up. A 152 rating would have been good for a top 10 in either race last year.

NXR Southwest may come down to a battle between those two. Here are their NXN finishes from 2018:
14th Ping, Lauren 17:29.5 (speed rating = 150)
37th Stewart, Riley 17:55.1 (speed rating = 142)
Stewart certainly looks stronger, but so does Ping. This race will be interesting.
I had to laugh at this on NJ Milesplit, at the Shore Coaches Invitational.
11:11 a.m. YOWZAAAA!!!!! CHARLOTTE BEDNAR JUST BLEW THIS PLACE UP!!! 18:00!!!!!! That's tied for No. 17 all-time on the Holmdel list!!!!
Bednar is a good runner, top 15 at NXN last year. But 18:00 is a mere 1:48 slower than Tuohy ran last year.

ROC boys happening now. Girls ROC w/ Tuohy starts at 11:50am PST
Race conditions look really good
1 - 16:22.8 - Katelyn TUOHY
2 - 17:04.6 - Jenna HUTCHINS
3 - 17:09.5 - Bethany GRAHAM
4 - 17:31.5 - Alyssa HENDRIX
5 - 17:35.0 - Tsion YARED
She got a 161 Speed rating for today. For whatever reason the SRs for this course often look low implying the course is "fast". Hutchins in 2nd got a 147 and she had several winning runs over 150 in the last month. But Tuohy seems like she has not really trained yet for speed. From her local newspaper:
"I think she was even more anxious than I was,” North Rockland coach Brian Diglio said. “It’s been a long time since she felt healthy and able to give a big effort.”
Tuohy, who noted so far this fall she has focused on logging miles but will start incorporating interval work aimed at developing speed, overcame knee tendinitis last fall to win her second Nike Nationals girls cross-country title. But she cut her spring track season short, foregoing Nationals, due to fatigue.
While allowing her to go all out Saturday, Diglio has applied the reins this fall to her training with the goal of keeping her healthy and having her peak late.
IMHO, going out in 4:52 without doing any speed training may have been a poor tactic.
In her interview Tuohy said she was disappointed in her race and wished it hadn't been her first full effort. She had checked out the course back in the summer. It sounds like she probably wanted to run sub 16 for 5K and this was her only shot.
Jenna Hutchins said she sat on Bethany Graham for two miles before picking up the pace so she ran a rather cautious race which probably accounts for the lower speed rating. She might have been worried about coming back from the big effort at Desert Twilight the week before.
