Hassan went all out.
I have watched Hassan kick since she broke out, but this was a new level for her. She ran a 42 final 300m (56.x 400 pace), running wide at the start of it and looking backwards every third stride. She had a pop and smoothness I've never seen from her before. She could have run 57 readily if needed. It wasn't. We'll see which Obiri shows in Doha, but even the best Obiri would have been on the ropes today. Hassan is looking like the Mo Farah of women's distance right now.
don't think so. Hassan has never run 14;18. And this time was only 14:26. Like I stated it was a good win, but her FIRST win against obiri. And Obiri beat her this year with a 14;21.
I don't lose sight of things off of one race, because anyone can have a great race and someone not have a great race.
For instance, hassan beat dibaba for the first time last week. But Dibaba smoked her with the fastest time this year of 3:55
Hassan is in great form right now, but we have seen this from her before and from other athletes who look good during the regular season, but come championship time or Olympic time it is another story. Hassan went in to the indoor world chamionsips last year as the favorite, because Dibaba had a terrible 2017 year. But Dibaba smoked her in the 1500 and 3000m.
So one race means nothing. One can look out of this world in one race, and look like s h i t e the next race. That's what I know about track and field.
And we have no idea what Ayana is going to do at 10000m..... so 1500 - 10000m are still huge, huge question marks because all the top women can run fast as hell.
If Kipyegon is ready to go at 1500m this year, no one beats her. Too strong for the whole damn field. Kipyegon can run a 56 second last lap.
5000m: It will either be Obiri or Hassan, whoever is in form.
10000m: don't know if hassan is running. don't know what Ayana is doing ...up in the air.
We shall see. However, I will say hassan is the second best female track and field athlete of the year behind Shaunie Miller.
