Rojo, why do you always change threads' titles? Are they really so bad or what?

Not as long as it would be before they fix the original title to not say 1:42.11. Blatant clickbaiting!
And I don't see any point in an "official" thread for a 3:28 guy who can go 1:43. Find me one who can't, that would be news.

+1, a great time for Cheruiyot but not a surprise

Hmmmm............. Consistently running sub-3:30 for the 1500 and now a 1:43. Remind anyone of a certain other Kenyan?
"Not really."
Maybe not really.
How many 3:28 guys have gone 1:43?
Kiprop (1:43.18?/3:26.69)
Cheruiyot (1:43.11/3:28.41?)
Makhloufi (1:42.7?/3:28.75)
Baala (3:28.98)
Not El G (but could), not Lagat, not Kiplagat (1:44.8A), not Morceli (1:44.79), not Ngeny (1:44.49, but could have with his 2:11.96, splitting 1:44), not Iguider, not Manangoi (1:44.15), not Farah, not Kwemoi, not Cacho (1:45.37)
did it
It's a great performance, and he obviously shared some of his potatoes with Elijah given that he is back jogging 3:35 after being an also ran a few weeks ago.

Que? He ran 3:37 and he wasn't an also-ran a few weeks ago because he hadn't raced since June.

This performance from Cheruiyot puts him in to 4th place on the all-time list for combined 800 and 1500m pbs based on the IAAF points system. 3rd actually if you ignore Kiprop's time(s), which were likely EPO assisted.

2 caveats:
1. Apart from Cheruiyot's addition today, I haven't updated this since 2017, so if there are any new names to add or moves to make, I'd really appreciate any information.
2. I've used the latest (2017) edition of the performance points for Cheruiyot's times, but all the others would have been from previously published points editions. So there may be a need for me to tweek a point here or there when I get the time.

As I've always said, Cheruiyot is like Asbel Kiprop if he had a brain

ok so I was wrong and the mods actually fixed the title! Way to go mods.
I still say any 3:28 guy who never ran 1:43 simply never tried. It's not the in thing like it was in the Coe/Cram/Aouita era, when every 3:29 guy would run 1:43.
It's possible Mo Farah couldn't have done it, but that's probably the only one.

Since we’re making outlandish comparisons, what 800m ability guarantees sub-3:29 performance by your calculation?

You didn't ask me, but I don't think that any 800m time would guarantee a sub 3:29 ability.

That's missing an alarming amount of 800m leaders for Kenya. Tim is a beast, though.
Doesn't Kenya have a first two get picked and the 3rd chosen by the selectors system?
If so, then a couple of top guys are missing out on Doha. Did they even run in this?
And presumably Tim has already been selected for the 1500 so that's why he's running this for fun. Or is he planning to double up in Doha?
6 of the top 11 800m men 2019 are Kenyan - steep descent as you constantly claim. Or would you agree you're just talking nonsense, as so often?
