Didn't see her name the past year. Is she still running at Cal or has she decided to focus on academic exclusively?

She never wanted to quit running, she just had an extremely unlucky string of injuries. My guess is that there is something seriously wrong at the Cal XC/track program, they get a ridiculous amount of runners injured which is very sad since they have so many talents like Oakley.

Oakley wasn't a talent she was a HS mileage beast. If you didn't see this coming with her form then you are blind.
Did she officially hang up the spikes?
Cal....Ha Ha Bottomless pit.

By "cardinal red," are you suggesting Stanford is better at avoiding injuries? Stanford helps many dozens of distance runners gain admission and try for a spot on their team every year. Only a handful from each class make it through college. They might be one of the few schools that rivals Cal in terms of burnout.

Imagine thinking form is the only reason a runner might perform poorly...lol

HS mileage beast that competed for two seasons? I don’t see how someone can burn out at Cal after one year either. Between high school and college I think she only ran about 3 years total.

Don't have any personal knowledge but the roster shows her as redshirt soph.

Guess he thinks she was getting a ton of mileage in when she was playing soccer.
Cal has a whole new coaching staff. How are they doing?

do you have any proof to back this up? Also does anyone actually know what happened to her, in terms of injuries?

Not for too much longer. New coach won an NCAA title or two as an assistant coach and he ran for Schumacher.
Is Brie still at CAL?
Best runner in high school XC 3 years ago to.....Nothing. The CAL tradition continues.

So they'll have a couple of good races, and then fail miserably when it counts.

Word is yes, but she has osteoporosis or something. To be fair, she would have 3 years left I believe.

Speaking of pits, their most famous athlete was that female pole vaulter 10 years ago.

I always assumed this would happen to her CAL teammate Bethan Knights instead. She was very clearly anorexic with the typical scenario of bursting on the scene and running unbelievably fast (9:50 for 3200 meters!)
Brie ran similar 9:48 for 3200 meters her second year running, and with similar form, but must have worse luck.
What is the threshold that separates a "hobbyjogger" from a "sub-elite" runner?
