How does that help with the angry, hateful, isolated, anti-social, frustrated, can't cope with people?
All this. Keep telling a group of people that they are the root of all evil and problems. Eventually one of them will get fed up and react violently.
Am I the only person who can see a trend with rich , privileged white boys, coming from hugh homes, doing all the mass shootings?

Mouth breathers like you are leading to the fall of this country. In what world does the left ever incite violence or peddle hate?
Are you really as dense as your statement makes you appear?
Have you ever heard of Antifa? I guess you think it's OK for them to wear masks and physically attack people on the streets. Not to mention they only do this when they are part of their usual enraged mob, they never attack one-on-one.
As far as peddling hate, it's all day and every day on the left, whether it's the mainstream media, politicians or "celebrities". Read Saul Alinsky's book "Rules for Radicals" and get back to me when you are done - wherein one of the primary leftist strategies is to accuse others of doing exactly what you yourself are doing. Maybe the prime example of this right now is the left screaming racism all day long, when they themselves are the real racists. If Trump is such a racist, I wonder how he lived 70 years before becoming president and no one knew all of this time? Imagine that! It's the left that is obsessed with race, while the rest of us think the individual is what is important.
The left constantly being in support of breaking the laws of this country - in what world does that not incite violence?
Dahhh..
Until we ask the right questions about what the pressures in our society are that create this parade of morally ill, if not emotionally and mentally ill, people who reach for a Glock when they decide to check out, then we will be waiting a very long time for this phenomenon of people spraying a public place full of innocent people with bullets to end. The guns are just the tool of choice, too easily available, I agree, but not the root cause. We need to look at where our society puts its resources.
Private boards of directors and major stockholders hold enormous power over our lives and have made disastrous decisions that have made this society much less secure for working people over the past few decades, leaving us over worked, over stressed, insecure, frustrated, and fearful.
Those same elites have pushed the political discourse during the same period in the direction of American empire, with all the romanticizing of guns and macho military stereotyping of "make my day" that have gone with it. Our entertainment media, partly responding to the profit potential selling sexualized violence to physically and emotionally adolescent movie viewers and video game players, and partly marketing virtual violence games first developed by the military to overcome soldiers' unwillingness to kill their fellow human beings, has provided an "entertainment" environment that trains people to be killers. When we add in the toxic stew of the news media that plays up the lurid and the sensational (without, however, engaging in any intelligent or meaningful analysis) in the hunt for ratings, and that this same media, owned by corporate ideologues, often pushes a culture-war agenda designed to increase people's frustration with our society, the result is a powder keg. A re-examination of our society's fundamental structure, one that stresses our common humanity and the importance of community over competition and individualism is long overdue.
A violent empire making violent people kill others around the world, while extolling militarism and more violence of every sort in its domestic and foreign policy - how about dismantling the empire, ending military spending, focusing on people's happiness and well being?

It’s estimated the 1/3rd of all the revenue generated from CNN last year was from ads and viewership related to mass shootings. We live in a sick world.
That's dumb, stupid, and incorrect.
Reasonable, but, perhaps also a bit "pie-in-the-sky". Expecting the US to abandon its worship of free market unrestrained capitalism is rather unlikely.

Which is why this problem has continued (and will continue) for so long.
Dont these people realize that they are the ones that are pushing this narrative? Between them and the complicit media, they peddle in fear, hate and racism about 400 times a day.
99% shooter
.7% founding fathers
.3% media
What a surprise, the thug-supporter celery wants more people armed.
This thread started out entitled, "Anyone else feel that the media is partly responsible for the mass shootings??" We've turned this into the main discussion thread of the recent horrific shootings.
Note. Our general philosophy is the board easily could be over run by politics related talk so we generally try to have one thread on topical political issues.
Which new, non violent utopian empire would you install afterwards? You discount the wickedness of man, which has endless empirical support.
Trump's response shows you the difference between teleprompter Trump and twitter or campaign Trump. I honestly don't think either are the real Trump because the real Trump probably doesn't exist anymore. He has morphed into an entity completely controlled by impulses in response to media coverage. He's all about power and winning, which is fine. All presidents are.
What is not fine is the violent and/or racist rhetoric he urges on and allows to occur. This is not new. He has let this fire fester since his days of birtherism and have used it to organize and emotionalize his base.

All the mass shootings in Chicago and Baltimore may say otherwise.

The media (all of them) are a major part of this. Nonstop coverage. How they cover it. It is all sick. Our society is so screwed up.
Ridiculous.

Of course the shooter is responsible. Question is how have so many young men come to enact such evil?
Could be lack of prayer in school for starters.
I hope you’re trolling.
