"Purple Rain," when the burly club owner with the cap who essentially hated The Kid watches him intently, in profile, and the third time the camera cuts to him, he gives a very slight approving nod. This is the guy whose opinion matters and that little bit is profound for him. Yeah, I cry at that.
"We Bought a Zoo," a movie with Matt Damon as a widower with two kids who indeed buys a zoo. It's Cameron Crowe's least well-known movie. It's all about the last scene. I've watched it 20 times (the scene, not the whole movie) and even though I tell myself "you're not gonna cry this time," it never works. Sometimes I cry even before it starts. Hint: the last scene is not about the zoo.
