That's painful for me to read. Been there, done that.
The best advice I have for Jager is to do no hurdling until race time. NONE. You're just asking for trouble.

If he's really only been running 40 days (I'm always skeptical when I hear these things), and he wins, that's certainly a byproduct of quality doping methods. Not physiotherapy. Not talent. Not good training. Not experience. Not a weak US field.
Jager was named in the leaked USADA report as "likely doping."

Jager will be unseated for two reasons:
1) Others will get better (someone will break 8:00)
2) For a steepler, this injury cycle will continue especially with get-fit-quick attempts
You lost everyone's attention at "Someone will break 8:00".
Did Jager actually state he was going to try for the win or is the headline misleading or false?

I didn't ask him that, no. I do agree that many athletes tend to just disappear when they're injured, but in Evan's specific case, it's not like he was ignoring my interview requests or anything. I only reached out to him about the injury a couple weeks ago and we were able to set up an interview.
What I've learned in my 5+ years covering the sport is that athletes in general just don't like talking about injuries, particularly if they are still currently injured. So I appreciated Evan taking me through step by step what happened to him.

Is it really too much of a bother to read a 60 sec article?

Not mine. I'm thinking an African is about to get citizenship based on that comment.
if the best time by someone allowed to compete in the US Trials was 8:20, or slower, I'd say maybe.
But with the plastic Americans, a win sounds doubtful

A king is who.
8 is not Jäger's lucky number
Good to see that his silent ban is over. Now where is C. Kipruto?
Happened to Schul in 68. Got sick, missed a bunch of training, went to trials and missed it.
If he could have made that team and had more time, he would have won it again in 68.
I dont see him making it.

You got the coulda and the woulda, just need to add the shoulda.
based off centro running 3:52 off basically 6 weeks of quality running, I belive Jager can make the team
also, judging off the quality of U.S. steeple men, I don't even think it will be hard for Evan to make the team.
Breaking 8:30 seems like the gold standard of guys in the U.S. Bor, Kebenei, and Ferlic will prob be the biggest competition.
Well 40 days occurs a lot in the Bible. Moses, Noah, Jesus. Could the Book of Jager be next?
I think he can make the team, I would argue that the Steeple is by far the weakest event in the USA lineup. SInce the distance races are generally very tactical in the Championships he just needs to get to the last 600m for a chance.

Dumass, it could also be cross training, aquarunning, cycling, rowing.
ahhhh yet another naïve purest who wants to believe the best in the world are clean. Well newsflash buddy almost every top level athlete in every event is doped and Jager is no exception. the payoff for doping is huge with little risk of getting caught. I say if Jager wins this it will definitely be a testament to how well the drugs work.
If Bor stays in 808 shape Jager won’t touch him.
Bor will win USAs with Jager coming in second. However Jager will be top American at Worlds, getting another medal.
If Bor goes out to run sub 810 and Evan goes with, it can get really ugly
