3:28 high after a suicidal 1:49 first 800m!? Amazing performance.

What a freakin race!!!!!
Was he a rabbit that kept going?

He looked like it but no, he just followed the (poor) pacemaker and still held on to win comfortably in a meeting record time.
Strong as an ox. Sub-3:27 possible in Monaco.

I would say it will be tough without anyone to push him, but after seeing that race today, I don't know that he needs anyone to push him to a fast time.
I was sure he was going to die after following the rabbit out in 1:49.4.
Boy was I wrong.
Jakob knows how to race!! Basically DFL early on...
Great run, but easier to run with competition around you.
You watch these races and note how out-dated the training methodologies of Coe were back in the 1980's. He was constantly straining when he raced 1500m, never comfortable. Watch how Cheruiyot and Jakob are finishing up this race - complete relaxation due to the amount of proper training of speed and strength. Coe relied way too much on his speed, since he could never run a fast 3000/5000. Both Cheruiyot and Jakob could threaten 13:00, whereas Coe could only threaten 14:00. Not hating on Peter Coe's training, but just a completely out-dated system for maximal performance over 1500-5000m.

He was training for the 8 and 15 and broke 3:30. When those guys attempt the same double, come back and critique.

Irrelevant, I'm going to add on to your comment:
He was training for the 8 and 15 and broke 3:30 and ran 1:41, a WR that stood for over a decade. I'd say Coe maximized his performance ! moonshot, you're way off.

No worries, champ.
Moran.
Can't win championships though.
and I bet he will runner-up again at Worlds.

You may be right. I also tend to bet on history repeating until it doesn’t as well. Today is about as good as I’ve seen him.
Brilliant run for Cheruiyot.
Agree that he may not win worlds.
How do you hold 3:28 form for three months? There are a half dozen guys in the mix, who will be healthy/peaking for the WC?
If Centro can keep healthy, he may sneak off with the gold.

Haha, good one.
Almost el G like form right now. Consistently winning by over a second? It's like the others are afraid to go with him.
He may still lose Worlds. In a 3:35 type race I can see Jakob or Lew winning with a kick.

Jakob had to go into lane 2 on the penultimate curve. That cost is his sub-3:30 right there.

Agreed. He looked crazy strong.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
