Easily twice as many. He often steals others’ handles.
It woukd have made more sense to get a year of grad school paid rather than eat mac and cheese.

It's not about the money. It's about preparing for the Olympics. No need to race a full XC season, a full indoor season, and an NCAA outdoor track season BEFORE the olympic trials. She can now plan long term to give herself the best shot at making an Olympic Team.
She can get in a really good training block and be fresh for the outdoor season. Plus better coaching because Ihmels is a phony.

She could be untouchable in mountain running. I said mountain running, not ultra running.
I wonder if she is looking to do a combo of mountain and track, like Joe Gray. I think that would make her uniquely marketable, more so than track and roads only.

THIS is what sets Allie apart for me. Her legend at Mt Marathon is growing, and coupled with the fact that she is the best female interview in the sport (humor+humility+intelligence+honesty), puts her in the potential Emma Coburn league in the near future.
if she already graduated in 3 years, why on Earth would she stay?

She is popular because she is winning. How much face tine did she get at the Pre meet? If she runs a few more steeples in 9:30, we will forget about her. 40K? We pay interns more than that, and they don't do jack $h|t. Are professional runners allowed to be sponsored by banks or other firms? Is it possible for AllieO (or some other runner) to be sponsored by Tiffany's, or by JP Morgan? Can she be sponsored by Starbucks? She already has the nose ring... Can she have a singlet with a Starbucks logo on it? I'd imagine Starbucks would sponsor her at 100K+ without even thinking about it.
Well the difference is earning 40k a year while training full time to try to make an Olympic team and represent your country is the dream of thousands of people.....while interning for you at JT McFKnuts Inc sounds like pure hell.
She's either going to continue to progress and make it as pro or find out she doesn't have what it takes. What's one more year in NCAA going to matter?
She's either going to be a sub 9:20, 15:10, 31:25 2:25 runner with a chance to make the Olympic team, or she's not. Is one more year at Boise going to change that?
How many shots do people get at making the Olympics in their life? Wouldn't you feel a bit stupid to not focus on it 100% while you have a chance? There are probably less than 10 women in each event with a real shot to make that team.....why wouldn't you go all-in going for it if you were in that small group?
Who cares if the pro contract is only equivalent to a scholarship......it's not like she would be making more money running for Boise next year. In-state tuition for grad school is $9,000. Isn't she better off if she gets $40K and is able to focus on making the Olympic team rather than NCAAs? More money, more flexibility......what is the issue again? Oh yeah...it's the internet.

grad school at Boise costs $9,000. It wouldn't take a huge pro contract to offset the scholarship.
9,000 plus room and board, medical, travel to meets, equipment and coaching. She’ll be lucky to break even.
However, being able to focus on OT is not possible while running 3 seasons. Although, hard to say with Allie she seems to run well after long seasons. I think her best shot is the 10,000m.
Also, adjusting to a new coach and training environment might not be the best thing in an Olympic yr.
To the mother who claims NB’s market is teenage females, no! just no!

wouldn't a pro contract include some coverage for medical, travel, coaching etc?......that can't all be out of pocket.

I agree regarding the interviews. Nothing is predictable and that is the most awesome gift imaginable for an interviewee.
I also don't mind Allie turning pro. She is already the age of a college senior since she had a redshirt year. If she doesn't attempt the Olympics now then she will be nearly 28 before her next opportunity in 2024.
Overall I question the steeplechase upside of an athlete who is 5 foot 1. That event is loaded with 5-7 and up frames like Chepkoech, Coburn, etc. Frerichs hardly looks imposing but she is also 5-7. Quigley is 5-9.
Every time I post something like this you'll have geniuses who jump in with an exception. Spare the effort. Outliers mean nothing. If you scramble for outliers it merely serves to boost the rule.
There have been some top female steeplers in the 5-4 range recently but once you drop to 5-1 territory it's really challenging logic in a striding and jumping sport. At that point it's no longer effort and desire as much as the cruelties of physical gifts.
Besides, given the high profile nature and increased popularity of that event recently I have been convinced that more top athletes will be switching to it. It doesn't take long to make considerable improvement and become a factor.
Good luck to Allie but I suggest she chop 10 seconds in a hurry.

If Allie was able to run this fast under that clown, she should certainly improve a ton with a real coach.
Curious as someone who knows nothing about Ihmels, what is so bad about him? Who are examples of athletes he ruined?
What became of Brenna Peloquin? She just sort of disappeared. I feel bad for her - she was right up there with (ahead of?) Allie when they were freshmen. I hope she's having a good life somewhere.
I doubt she has held a full time job to establish residency which then leaves the cost of grad school at Boise at $34k. But she could have transferred to Stanford or ND for the year. At least one of the majors is listed as $132k per year at Stanford. Many pro contracts do not provide insurance but she can remain on her parent's until 26. She is just not fast enough to get a significant contract. Being 25 seconds behind other Americans probably hurts your brand more than it helps it.

This could be a possibility. Even though she is signed up for Mt Marathon this week I'll be somewhat surprised if she lines up, with nationals only a few weeks away. But if she does run both that could be her approach into the future. See how it goes in Des Moines and if she doesn't make that team do upcoming USA and world trail champs later this summer/fall.

Yeah, no joke. Get some shots of her sipping some lattes in the mountains and it'd move more product than that. Plenty of kids think she's amazing. No idea what pro runners make, but 40k? Is that a joke? Our company also pays interns from Boise State more than that. Maybe Starbucks could make an over priced chocolate coffee recovery drink and use her to sell it.

Okay, we got it. You don't like the guy. You post on every BSU related thread. You're bitter for who knows what reason. You'd be bitter at any program. You've justified your resentment and held on to it. Sorry your college career didn't pan out the way you wanted it it. You have some goal of trying to bring that coach and program down. Go public and quit being such an anonymous troll. This thread is about Allie and Iggy, not your grievances.
Who says she's getting 40K?
She's got one of the best agents out there. Seems as marketable as say Drew Hunter. And these days it's not just about fast times--although that's the bottom line--but also marketability.

Residency requirements and tuition are waived if a grad student is a TA or RA. And she's still on scholarship so that would cover living expenses and spending. That said if she leaves Boise (probably the case) and goes to grad school at a later date, the TA and RA opportunities would still be there--depending on the field of study.
